Hey Ya'll - I'm not a particular fan of the Carbon Fiber look, however, I'm in the midst of doing massive work to my 81 (wait till you guys see before and after pics!) and given the color I'm painting it and wanting something a bit more in the interior I was contemplating this. First question, what do you think? Second question - have any of you added this to your interior and if so do you mind posting a couple pics?

I'm wishy-washy on it. I think it's going to depend on the rest of the interior. My first reaction was :puke, but maaaaaybe with the right interior choices elsewhwere... Don't know. If you aren't redoing everything in a new style (guages and whatnot), I think it's going to be hit or miss. Their sample pictures certainly aren't anything to write home about. IMHO (only because you asked! :)

What about a wood kit? I have one that a previous owner installed, and now I can't stand it without the kit! They have wood and carbon fiber sets over at www.madvet.com , check 'em out. Can't wait to see the before and after pics!

Chevyaddict I am afraid I would have to go with woodgrain or something in a more solid color then what the e-bay link has, but the choice is not mine, but your's.

Nice avatar

Yea, I was thinking first actually about the woodgrain kit but it diesn't fit the personality of this car and I think it will clash with the color.... AND it won't go with the material I'm having added into the seats when they are recovered to tie in the outside and the interior. But the all black is a bit much. I think I will refrain from the Carbon Fiber though, methinks. Thanks all for your opinions! I just needed more opinions. :)

Count me in. I would buy it if only to get the special Cannes watch. I don't think you could get them anywhere else.

I bought a similar kit but it was a brushed aluminum dash kit, in fact I gave part of the kit that I didn't use to Evolution( Blender boy). I like it ok and the quality of the piece was great . I am eventually going to go back with the black original on mine , but at the time it was a quick fix to a cigarette burn or three in the plastic. I got mine off Ebay as well but not from that guy, unless he changed his name a few times..

OK I checked and this is the guy I got mine from and here is the listing.

OOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo! I like that ALOT and it will definitely match the car!! THANKS!!!

It looks better in person than in the pic... Just come to Cruisefest and see it ! :L

Post pics as you go ! When you put this on your car , you have one chance to stick it. Once it touches , you are committed.

Thanks for the heads up.... I tend to get a little impatient and anxious and the result usually is me hurrying when I shouldn't. I'll be extra careful then. GRACIAS!!

Wow!! Those watches would surely seal the deal for me. Man, I have been looking around the world for those Cannes watches. That is the dealmaker for me.:W

Cj.....Quick ? for you....

The brushed aluminum that you have on..Looks good...What do u clean it with and do you ever need to use a mag and aluminum cleaner polish on it? Has it become discolored at all? Does it clean up well??? And do they have a tach and speedo piece available also??

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,

Andy

Chevyaddict, I even give my :upthumbs to the brushed aluminum over the initial choice. It will probably look quite good.

Enjoy and behave sometimes? How is the school work going (the doctorate)?

Andy , It's not really aluminum , it is a type of plastic or polymer . It is realistic looking and never fades that I can see. Just wipe it with a damp cloth and you are set. Tach and speedo comes with the kit, just doesn't work on 77 . 78 and up works fine.

Behave? NEVER!!! Ha ha ha! I only have a year left; the hardest year coming up but I love a challenge. I've given myself a month off from anything academic or requiring a lot of brain power and that means CAR WORK! I am in such huge car work mode at the moment it is unreal! I'm simultaneously working on my 81, my 68 and the 90; also pulled out the 69 Camaro to clean up and start contemplating how and what I'm going to do with it! Now, if I only had unlimited funds I'd be all set!!!!!!!!!

Not a very good pic, but everyone that sees the carbon fiber interior likes it. Of course, the interior is grey, so that helps. From Florida AutoTrim.
