check engine light comin on only on freeway

ok well like it says my check engine light is coming on when ever i get on the freeway and it only goes on when i do that no other time...
any ideas...

Check for codes and report back here.

Ground A to B of the ALDL with a paperclip. Turn the key on, don't start. Count the number of flashes...you will get three Flashes, three times. Such as this. Flash...pause....flash flash x 3...then you will get any other stored flashes three times each....then the Flash...pause....flash flash x 3 again.

Go to your local Autozone. They will do a code scan for free.

well it never stays on... but my dad has a $4000 scaner at his work that ill ask him to bring home and see what it is i guess

Coud be something as simple as a loose gas cap - make sure it cicks a couple times. Check the simple stuff 1st. If your Dad has a good scanner then by all means go that route. At the very least, you will get a code to reference that will help to pinpoint the problem.
