Decoding help for a newbie

I just had my car delivered. 65 vert 327 4 sp. I bought it site unseen, well I saw it once 10 yrs ago. Prev owner was a family friend that owned it for 21 yrs he traded the orig owner some land for it. I haven't spoken with the orig owner yet but that is in the plan!! I found the trim tag in the glovebox (not good)and I'm curious if the color or interior was changed, I don't think so, at least that is what they tell me!!!

The 65 is year, 467 is vette conv. Don't know about the E14.
Trim 414=Blue Vinyl
Body S1485= Not sure but may be st louis body # 1,485

E14 is the body build date, and in your case would be December 14th, 1964. The body build date normally preceeds the final assembly date by 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 days. You have a St. Louis built body as the S1485 shows. A. O. Smith built bodies for 1965's also, but they are identified by an "A" in the body number instead of an "s". The 900 was a carryover in paint numbers from previous years, and doesn't show anything in 1965 as all 1965 Corvettes had the 900 prefix in the paint code.

An excellent book on the 1963-1967's is "The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide - Vol. 2 by Noland Adams. It is $70 or so now, but is well worth the price for mid-year owners. The above info comes from there.

I liked it so well I bought the 53-62 version as well.

Tom is correct on the items he supplied...

The E14 indicates Monday, December 14, 1964, the day the body passed by the station where the tag was affixed on the body line.

Your body is the 1,485th St. Louis "Convertible" body; coupes were numbered separately, as well as A. O. Smith coupe & convertible bodies.

All St. Louis bodied '65s had a paint code with the prefix "900", followed by the color code (in your case "FF")... A. O. Smith bodies did not have the 900 prefix, just the two-letter paint code.

Also, the first character "B" of the "BA" suffix in the trim code indicates convertible.
