ECM? New or Remanufectured

My local dealer can still get AC Delco Ecm’s for $179 is it worth the money or should I go to Advance Auto and get a remanufactured one for $79? Thanks!

I admittedly bought an AZ special, and it seems to be OK (for now, but who knows, it may last 21 years like the OE one). Do you know why the original failed? Shorted injectors, etc? With all the issues I have had with "reman" parts, I am only buying new now.

Yup driver’s side injectors are not getting a signal from the ECM. Checked voltage and on D15 & D16 of the harness and also checked the grounds with the ohm meter and all checked out. I took the ECM out and it to is remanufactured. Might have to spend the extra $100 for the Delco?

I'd check carefully with your ACD dealer. You may find the Delco ECMs for a car that old are reman.

Hib, You were right. I called the dealership and they told me they are remanufactured but remanufactured by ACD. The parts stores I’m told are remanufactured by a company by the name of Cardon? I’ve called a few different parts stores and they all carry the same one by Cardon.

Replacement parts

Years ago I tried to buy a domestically built oil presure sending unit for my 79 L-48. I wound up buying four different units, the first one was from AC Delco, 'Made in Mexico' 2. Made in Taiwan 3. made in China and the fourth was another 'Made in Mexico' So much for "Thinking Global, Buying Local" so I settled for the one manufactured on this continent, in Mexico !
