ok i just got an 81 corvette.. it was a california car originally.. all the emissions has been removed. the carb has been changed, the distributor, plus most other stuff.. the computer is iun the car but not hooked up... well i cant register it cause i live in california.. i have a 86 firebird i got for $500. it has a 305 with a computer controlled q-jet too.. all the emissions are there... how hard would it be to change all the smog over to the vette... it looks all the same to me.. has anyone ever done anything like this... can i change some of the harness wiring to match if need be... need help please... or would it be easier to do a fuel injection motor swap... ???

This is the link referencing Bill Hodel in Ohio when JohnZ posted on the subject.

What follows is information I previously posted on another related posting...

Bill has excellent customer support. He's a very stand-up guy, and very helpful and knowledgeable. He provided alot of help on questions, and he could probably help you on what can be moved-over from the 86 Firebird.

ok well i started the tear down on the firebird... wow there are lots of wires... hahaha... i took off all the vacuum lines and the carb... the intake on the bird is aluminum... this is stock on these motors... but there is a 1" hole drilled through the side of it.... it goes from drivers side tward the pass side... no clue why its there... it is plugged on the side.... ill post pics when i get a camera.. i have a assembly maual that came with the car.. this book rocks... if you guys dont have one for your car get on... every nut and bolt is shown how it came from the factory.. this book is a big help...

The plugged hole in the intake is the way the factory made them. Have no idea why, but mine is the exact same way.

My '81 is all apart and I have lots of notes as to what vacuum lines go where...no pictures, just hadn drawn skectches that I would be willing to share if you need them. I would have to re-draw them to make them clearer though. I did them as I was taking the engine out.
