This morning I'am going te store and ol and behold what do i see in the middle of the road?A red roof panel from a vette, paint side up!undamanged but a small ding.I bang a u-turn and pick it up.no one s around.soon a red z06 pulls up,the guy says I heard a noise but didn't know what it was!He thanked me for saving it,said the z was 2006 with 250 orgin.miles wow!Nice z!Said he had 12 other chevys chevelles, camaros etc.and an airplane! Some days are strange:beer

Didn't know that the 2006 Z06 had removable roof panels, thought they were permanently attached. Did his red vette have the panel missing when he drove up?

The painted part can delaminate from the roof frame and fly off. There was a recall for this and it included the "Z". Guess the owner never took care of the recall issue.

The Good News: Only certain "number runs" were recalled.

The Bad News: Cars outside the recalled numbers lost their roofs too.

It was an on-off problem FOR 3 MODEL YEARS. GM tap danced around it like they do other Vette issues - crank bolts seem to stick out for me.

When he came back the z sure looked funny with a white headliner showing! The top had one little scratch.I think it can be re-used.glued back.It sure looked funny. But sad somekink of bad enginering:ugh 0

My '06 coupe was recalled for this and it also had the creaks and pops from the roof. The whole roof was finally replaced and haven't have any problems since.
