FX3 Actuator Gears

For those of us who have the FX3 system, I just noticed on Ebay that a company called "VetteTech" is offering some new metal actuator gears (I went to Ebay and searched under Ebay Motors using the search "1989 Corvette"). I think the situation is that stripped plastic gears are usually the main cause of having to replace the entire actuator, and the claim is that these metal gears will avoid having to replace the entire unit. Oddly, though, the "Buy it Now" price was, I think, $198.00, so hopefully these are gears for all the actuators! Probably the best thing to do would be to contact VetteTech and ask for more info. Still, this is a start as it may get around having to deal with Bilstein and their rip-off pricing on FX3 components.

One of these days I'm gonna get my calipers out and do my own reverse engineering of that gear. In quantity, I bet they can be made for a few dollars each.

Chris,
Checked with Vette Tech & they donot have gears for sale. Could it possibly have been another company?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Quite possibly, although it's probably another "Vette Tech", as this was the name on the auction notice....probably the best thing to do is to contact them through the Ebay auction. I will see if the auction is still "on" and give it a try.

The notice is still on Ebay, and the phone number given is: 714/287-2205. I think that's an L.A. number, so you might give them a call.

Chris,
Thanks for your trouble. I'll pass on the info.
