Thanks everyone for all the advice with removing the gaskets on the 85'. It certainly wasn't as easy as it "should" be but soon the covers will be repainted and the gaskets refreshed. The manual book by Hanes was pretty decent but I also had to refer to a book I found in some abandoned library out in the Sticks of Virginia that's on the 1985's. A lot of getting the bolts off (which hadn't been touched since Bowling Green, KT) was a challenge. I suggest a lot of patience. The driver's side valve cover must have be grown in it's place because there is no "perfect" way to remove it once unbolted and available space is made. It all become a matter of muscle, geometry and fury. If you find a way that works, stick with it and please share the knowledge.
