Gel-Kote

For those that use Gel-Kote (coat) (John McGraw) prior to painting what type of body prep and sanding steps are required or preferred? Do you apply extra coats on the repaired areas? I called Evercoat and they have a single process Gel-Kote that does not require the PVA and this is the product they recommend for corvettes.

Does anyone know what has happened to "Paint Daddy", I always appreciated his advice?
