Well my 355 rebuild is going but not to happy with the sound of the exhaust it sounds like a Grocery Getter.
If I put diffent ratio rocker arms 1.6, 1.65 or 1.7 will this give me a nastyer sounding exhaust tone.
If it will change the exhaust tone should I do both intake and exaust of just intake or exhaust.
The car runs good but I now want a little nastyer sounding car vett not like a Grocery Getter.

Keep it stock, document EVERYthing, with pics, post them on the boards here.

It will pay in many ways - when you sell, there's no questions to ask. When I sold my last one, the guy and his boy flew in from Philly, and I gave him the keys and told him where the local Chevy dealers were. He said he saw enough in all my threads, and he drove back to Philly without even test driving (he did call when he got home and said it got to 242 in DC rush hour).

Anyway, a stock build thread generates hits, and ad revenue on the boards goes up, re-sale value goes up, etc., ...

With a custom build, you have to document everything anyway, for tuning/troubleshooting later. If you don't, you'll be in the dark, next owner will be in the dark...

Well, thats out the window! This motor is so far past stock that it'd take a week to list all the changes, machine work, heads etc...

Marv buddy,
sounding like a Taurus don;t seem real impressive...a SHO Taurus maybe?

I don;t think rockers will make that much of a difference. I remember headers, but what about the cats and rest of the exhaust?
The heads, compression and cam (all the things that make it breath) are what makes the sounds...
See what muffler eliminators do...I think there are some Borla kits that are'nt too expensive. I tossed mine because it got to be too loud but the low rumble at idle was great and the roar of WOT was even better. The constant sound while cruising was too much.
You could be paying the L98 Gods for messing with the torque curve and making better high end breathing....

Did you use bigger injectors? more fuel to go with the nice heads and cam?

Yes Trick Flowheads 24# injectors bigger cam 214/214 @50 290/290 Duration .447/.447 lift Intake CL107, Hi Flow intake base SPL runner Chipped No it's not stock.:chuckle

Magna Flow cat back.

If I go with Corsacat back It mite be more mean sounding.

I have been looking at muffler eliminators.

And I not ever planning to sell the car it will be handed down to my kid one day.

If you install a freer flowing exhaust you will hear more of the motor. Check out youtube and vettetube for exhaust videos.

I dont know about muffler eliminators how loud will they make the car inside.

I remember the days of Headers with turbos with turn downs and how LOUD they were inside I dont want it that loud inside of the car.

I had a Buddy that had 4 inch glass packs and the pipes ran out in front of the front rear tires and he always got pulled over for been to loud but he told the Cops look it has mufflers LOL.;LOL

The car will be a everyday driver in a year for a while.

The addition of an X pipe in the exhaust will give your car a very distinctive sound. Am I to assume you are running headers?

I want to run full length headers but CA smog laws keep me from doing this so far I trying to find away around this law.

I think I found away but I not 100% yet.

Are you building something DIFFERENT than the one in your signature line here?

Not yet but I still have a long block I been thinking about making a stroker out of.

Ok, I see in the first post it's a re-build. I was thinking this is a new assembly here. You already pulled it out of the car?

You're going to get a different crank to make it a stroker? Will you have to get a different cam too?

The 357 4 bolt main motor is in the car it's NEW.

But I never happy.

I been thinking taking MY Stock L98 motor take my sweet time and build a beast make it a 4 bolt main Stroker I know all about the crank ECT.

This next one will be a full forged trick motor.

But if I going to build a new motor it might take a while no big hurry.
Ca now has the 30 year rule before I can go hog wild on a motor and not have to deal with smog.

Ok - you have a new build in the car, and you're going to pull it and make it a stroker. And the exhaust and rocker arms too...

No I have OEM motor for long term project sitting on my motor stand.

The New 357 is in the car now..

My hand are tied for now By CA smog laws thats why the 357 is not built to the max.

I have a couple more years before the car will be smog exempt.
