Hood Seal Installation

A dumb question, but it's not obvious to me. The hood seal I bought has two flat sides, I assume the side with the stickum attaches to the bottom (horizontal plane) and not the vertical. Is that right? Instructions on these items (door seals too) would benefit from a diagram.

The method you describe is the way I installed mine. Make sure you use some denatured alcohol or tar remover to clean the painted surface before you put the gasket down.
