How can I make my 1977 L48 4 speed faster?

Probably both...certainly wouldn't hurt to have someone that knows Q-Jets take a look at it and give it a thorough 'go-over'. If you engine is modified or you've other adjustments to boost your power, the carb could probably stand a few tweaks here and there. However, it's still a potent carb in it's stock form. Granted, 750cfm was probably a bit more than the stock setup needed, but it's certainly nice that's there room to grow with 'em. Just like the 350 engine itself.

Great site, Evo. I'm getting rid of my cat. converter as soon as I install my true dual exhaust. I haven't decided whether to go with a chambered system or one with mufflers. Right now I am just enjoying driving my car in the great weather we had here in NY the last week or so. Yesterday I noticed a strong fuel smell when I got on the gas pedal. Could my carb need some tuning or a rebuild? It is a stock Q-jet. What do you guys think?

Usually when you press the gas and smell gas means your fuel pump is going bad. It gives to much gas, doesnt burn all the gas, goes out the exhaust, then it comes back with the wind, and you get the fun of smellin it the whole time. It happened to my dads pickup, so bad you had to stick your head out the window. although, i guess getting to much fuel is better than noot gettin any at all. Oh ya, Evolution1980, awsom website!

Yeah, it's really cool to browse through, car-related or not! The article they have about nitrous systems was written by our own Hib Halverson!
I used that site to understand what was wrong with my old recirculating ball steering setup, and how my new transmission works. Pretty cool site indeed! Before the web was around, I had the book.
