hurtful comment

Some people like them, some people don't. Either way, we still love them. There are however a few "ugly" Corvettes out there. Remember the Disney plaid C4? No pictures please, we don't need to remember that well.

I drove my C6 to work last week, only to have one of my coworkers tell me that the car was "nice", but that his new Honda was faster.

Are you sure you heard him right? He could have ment that he wished his new Honda was faster. If he ment that statement, then he most have a few screws lose.

H.D.

When I got my 03 a couple months ago, my sister in law saw it, and said (with severe jealousy, I sensed) she likes mustangs better. This, in front of ALL my in-laws!

I told her not everyone has good taste.

She will NEVER see the inside of my car, EVER!!!!!!!!!

You gotta be kidding me..A C-3 ugly? No Way. The guy probably drives a rice-burner any way. Chin up man, your driving a classic!

These two could be UGLY?

Well there's a lot to say about taste.
He works in a tasteless pizza joint..

These two Vette's in the foreground have been said to be ugly..

That will answer all questions as to being Ugly..

Been there! Shortly after I sold my 71 convertible, I was talking with a C5 owner who asked what I would get next and I responded that the jury was out but maybe C5/C6. He replied "so you're finally going to get a REAL vette."

I just walked away. The arrogance wasn't worth my time to respond to.

I am obsessed with C-3's, all Vettes for that matter. There is nothing like them anywhere. The only drawback to some C-3's was the performance, which is easily resolved if need be. I have come to understand that Vettes are not for everyone, which is a good thing. This is the only sports car I have ever owned. I drive my Dad's Porsche sometimes (when he needs me to work on it), and everyone asks me why I am not driving my Vette.
In 6 years, that is the first time I ever got a bad comment tho, and I have to attribute that to jealousy. Didn't mean to cause a stir, just had to vent because it really surprised me that someone didn't see the 81 the way I did, which is that it is an awesome vehicle. I mean this was my dreamcar when I was 3 years old. I had (still have) matchbox cars, drawings I did, everything. When I was 23 I had a real one in the garage. So I guess when someone insults my passion, I had to talk about it to others that share it with me to make me feel better.

Just love the BATMOBILE look of the C3's

Lance,
When I was 8 or 9 which was in 1961,62, doesn't matter..
Back in 1961 thru 1966 we HAD REAL SLOT CARS and one
of mine was a Batmobile type Vette. That did it for me.
My Dad worked in the car industry for over 33 years. When he brought
home his demonstrator company car in 1963, gee which one model was that,
red/red 63 split window, WOWWWWWW, my mother claimed it only for 3 months as she had 3 kids. I used to ride in the teardrop. Then in 1967 he brought home
that blue/blue 67 teardrop 427/3 deuces vette. My mother was not allowed
near it as she was the hot-rodder in our family.
I said I would get one. I made a promise to myself at 27 I would get a vette by age 35. As not to be a grey haired old man at 50 that gets one cause of a mid-life crisis. (no offence to anyone just my thoughts - I am 52 now) I have had my 1981 C3 since April 27, 1987. Have had most of it refreshed/new and as far as I am concerned I told my mechanic - IT IS WAY TO FAST for me.
Johnny Law and all and I do not want to be BUBBA's nitley date if you know what I mean.. lolll Hard to keep the foot out of it at times.
Anyway that's my story. Now that your eye's are bleeding go in the garage and put another coat of wax on your baby..
Howie...

i'm a fan of all corvettes, but i've got to say that the c3 is probably the most unique generation of all time. it would never be mistaken for another car. someday, i'd love to own one...perhaps an l88 or zl1...:beer ...hey, it's ok to dream!!!

I went to Papa Johns to pick up my pizza last weekend. I drove my red 81, which after many years of hard work looks like it rolled out of the factory. One fella that worked there said wow and was sincerely impressed looking at it from the window when I went inside. Another guy said "that is one of the ugly vettes." After a sharp glance from myself he tried to correct what he said by saying things like it looks good, asking about the engine, etc. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but how could anyone think a shark is ugly? There is nothing remotely like them on the road today. I think like any Vette it is more of a work of art than a mode of transportation. Of course this comment came from a pizza guy, and not trying to be cruel, but he probably couldn't afford the tires on it (this comment crossed my mind, but I kept my mouth shut). Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone.

One other thought... some people have to disagree just to do it. Because his co-worker said "wow", he had to come back with a slam.

As so many have said, he's probably jealous and, even if he isn't, he works at Papa Johns for God's sake.

He's one of the 0.000001% of the population who might claim to not like your Vette. :L

Just enjoy your car... it's YOURS!

Abbie Hoffman once said, "There comes a time in some discussions where the only reasonable reply is f*** you"(or something very close to this). This was such a time.

I'm betting the SR71 "Lady in Black" would win if she were invited to race.... :D

I can recall two people saying my car was ugly. One was someone that was simply jealous and there was no hiding it. The other was a drunk girl that just thought it was attractive to act like a stupid, obnoxious, intoxicated biotch. I just laughed at both of them. NO ONE could EVER convince me my car is ugly. I love my car and I'll never find it ugly...EVER! Zora himself could come back from the grave and wince at the sight of my car, but god rest his soul, even he couldn't convince me. (Of course, he's turning over in his grave right now at the mere thought of me thinking such blasphemy!) :L

I have two corvette buddies, mid-year fanatics, who believe "GM quit making Corvettes after 1967." I am one of those who wants one of every generation in my garage.
They see the C3 as underpowered, poorly built (they still recall the poor press the 1968's received), and built for disco swingers. I say they are uptight slaves to an NCRS judging manual, but to each his own, I guess. We give each other a hard time, but we've been attending shows together for 8 years.

The C3 will never be mistaken for anything else on the road. It is the car I fell in love with at age 6. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, as long as it makes you smile.

Dude probably drives a Volvo. Don't be concerned with fools like that.

I guess my real surprise was that the Pizza jockey spoke English.

I'll tell you what Lance.

This August we get about 2-3000 "ugly" Vettes together and drive down to the pizza place, take up all the parking spaces for 1/4 Mile or so. Then NOT buy pizza.:L Do they have a drive-thru window? That would be funny!
I'll bring the video camera.:D
Pete.

This could be a fun adventure... Maybe we could make this happen. I'd be up for a roadtrip in August and this sounds like something fun. Keep us posted.
