I think Motorman has it right - GM sees that cutting loose with another small car with gas as cheap as $2.50 won't work for sales. I think that launch can serve as an indicator of what one can expect for gas costs. Of course, it won't matter if the USdollar drops below 70 on the dollar index ( wieghted value of multiple currencies ). When that happens, throw a tarp over the ride, you're not driving anywhere.

GM's engineering fat has been cut to the THROUGH the bone. There is no flexibility to throw extra resources at problems when they arise. A lot of talent went out the door. Look at the senior engineering talent Corvette lost.
