Hi out there
Tok the Bose out of the vette today. The CD-player does not work. Nothing new in that. The easyest thing to do must be replacing the whole CD unit. The unit was marked "Made in Japan" Suprised me !
Does eny of you know the brand (Sony, Hitachi or so) ??
Is it possible to bye the unit in the USA ??
What colors do the powersuplye cabels have ??
Thanxs // Max M

Hi there,
First off, your system, as I recall is Pioneer manufactured.
Repair of these units is common place, and we use a place on Long Island, New York, called Model Electronics for all exchange units. Usually its about $300-$400, depending on the damage.
Now, your following, please remember, Your control head, in the dash is only one part of the unit, the receiver is in the back, which controls your functions.
Constant power is Red, pin #1. to the control head, coming from the LCD fuse.
Now, power to the receiver in the back, is a orange wire, pin 10, constant batt power, coming from your Radio fuse. White wire, pin 9 is your ignition on wire, coming from your Wiper fuse, yes, I said Wiper.
Now, the ignition on power to the control head, is channeled from the receiver in the rear, to the control head, by 2 different wires. purple with a yellow stripe, is the 14 volt source into the control head. Red, with a yellow strip is your battery power.
so, with that, I hope it helps, and let us know if you need anything further, c4c5:hb

Owning a Corvette in an other country than USA must be impossible without you out there. Thanx for the help

C4C5 Spec....your help was very good. This is what i done: I took the controlunit apart, took out the cd-player, cleaned it very carfully and put it all back together in the car for test.
IT DID NOT WORK.
I have also foned several companys around Europ...but nobody wants to deal with the Bose system.

So my friends, could you give me some advise on companys in the USA that could fix the cd player. e-mail adresses would be fine.
Thanx // Max M

I have made my dissision. This is the company that will repar the CD-player

M&R Electronics
5665 State St.
Saginaw, MI 48603

It will cost 170 USd. + shipping. I think that is OK.
I will play a tune for all of you out there wen it´s back.

SOunds like a good price..

I like the idea of keeping the stock looking radio, But my wifes minivan has a better radio than my Bose.. That just does not seem right somehow... If I could get a better unit for a reasonable price that would not make the dash look basterdized, I would go for it...

I agree with you on the stock matter. The Bose look´s god in its place. Have loked at Vig:s pictures, and they look nice but there is a different upp to -89. In my daly driver (Mazda 626) i put in a Kenwood a few week´s back. Sounds nice to a good price but it won´t fit in the vette. Enyway, my Bose has now arived in Saginaw. I hope.
