I'm not going to bore you with all the details, but again with the repro junk!!!!

For those of you familiar with the simple replacement of the radio and heater bezels and knobs, this should take approximately 10 minutes for all four, right?

I've got two hours invested and one broken piece and one wrong piece to go back for replacement. That's in addition to having to "modify" three other pieces to fit the existing holes in the dash.

:mad :mad :mad

I'm getting very tired of this kind of crap. REPRO SUCKS.

I would put it aside for now and move on to something else till you can take a fresh look at it with less frustration. You don't want to be breaking any more parts. Let the supplier know how you feel! A little venting will do you good :)

I definatly feel your pain. The worst part is trying to get what you have to work because you think you allready have the best repo part in your hand.Or knowing that youll have to wait another week to get a different one.

So when you complain about the parts I really know how frustrating it is to be trying to complete a project and keep hitting road blocks that are caused by a peice of junk.I really really get mad because I think of all the time I made making a list, sourcing the part, waiting for the part, planning when I was going to install the part.onlyto get started and realize its junk. Then I spend the rest of the time making myself madder think about it.Nothing makes for a worse day working on the car then having ill fitting parts.

Who ?

So instead a whining about repro parts that "suck", why not give a warning and instead tell us where you got this repro junk? That way we can learn from your valuable lesson.
Eh?

Ted

first of all, welcome to the forum
:)

since you are new, I'll let you know that Heaven is one of the top contributing members here and is very helpful to everyone. His "whining" on this thread is lust letting off steam that all of us experience from our cars time to time.
Before you criticize him you may want to do a little search of his other posts to see where he is coming from, his knowledge, and his very constant, consistent, and generous help to all members on the forum.

Hello Ted and welcome to the corvette action center.I guess you are correct stating it is whinning for sure. But its nice to be able to vent to folks who are dealing with the same problems as oneself.

I have found its much better to work out a problem with a bad or incorrect part directly with the source of who I purchased it from then to sling mud across a public forum.

Again welcome to the forum
If you need some recomendation on who to get parts from I can tell you I have been using Zip Products and Paragon Reproduction for a while and love the quaility of service they deliver.

Why certainly "ted". Just send me an eMail and I'll be glad to share information with you. I have no desire to publicly bash any specific company.....even that one in CT. You probably know the one I mean. ;)

Tell us all about yourself, "ted". How about some photos of your Corvette? Where are you located? How long have you been involved with Corvettes? Etc.

actually, with all due respect to the moderator ;) I think embedded in Ted's message is a valuable point - if you have some feedback on a part or a supplier, this IS the place to share it, after all (aside from your venting) so that your fellow enthusiasts might learn from your experience . . . . if y'all wanna pile on Ted under the guise of a warm welcome, well that is your right . . .

and I Live in CT and that ol grumpy man's joint is quite a valuable resource - now if you have a fragile ego, or otherwise require a whole bunch of "sugar" in your transactions, agree you might want to go elsewhere . . . :D

Who is to judge whether a complaint about a specific vendor is warranted. Me? How do you know I didn't mess up, then try to blame it on the vendor?

If moderators start bashing vendors by name on this forum, what is to stop others from doing the same? Who is to judge whether any individual claim is legitimate, or simply competitor-bashing?

Anyone who has a specific interest in the problem is welcome to let me know how to contact them, and I'll be happy to discuss it in detail.

IH2Lose, and others, were correct. I was letting off steam. I'm afraid you'll have to be content with that. :)

P.S. I've looked for the "piling-on" you referred to and can't find it. :confused

no warm and fuzzy feeling on this thread; as a mod you might want to take a deep breath and try to stay ABOVE the emotional fray (from a former moderator on a large car enthusiast forum). If you don't think it is appropriate to provide feedback on an obviously negative experience you had with a parts vendor, that's cool. Not too helpful to those of us who might be considering ordering that very same part from that vendor, but as you wish . . . . can't be saying unkind (but truthful) things about forum-vendors or anything . . . . :eyerole

You guys both have valid points. I was thinking, perhaps someone with the talent and expertise could put together a web location or thread here at CAC or elsewhere to comment on the fit, finish, and functionality of Repro parts. However, it could be limited to positive comments from satisfied users, stating how well the part(s) performed rather than publicly bashing an ill fitting or poor performing suppliers part. Then, as word gets around regarding the good parts (and there are some), we guys (and gals) needing replacement parts will have a source to start from.

It's beyond my skill level in the computer world, any comments or thoughts on this matter?

Is your "junk" licensed GM or no name parts?
hey Ken

You know I never think to ask if its a licenced reproduction peice or not.I am purchasing from people who have catologs not out of the trunk of a car. So I personally am not sure of weather or not they are licenced gm parts or not.Do you know if every thing or anything has to be licenced by gm in order to reproduce it?

I would be nice if it was that easey

If it's a licensed part, the box or bag will have a "GM RESTORATION" sticker on the package. Every part that has a GM logo is supposed to be licensed. Go to WWW.GM Restoration Parts. If it's a licensed part and isn't right, then you should complain to GM.

Thanks Ken I will keep that in mind on future purchases.Me personally I am trying to now use NOS part or rebuild the parts I may need in the future

My 2 cents... I think 67heaven has made a responsible response to let all know there is bad repro out there. As he said, if you want to know who just email him. I find him to be very accommodating to a wide variety of personality types and points of view. So what if he's Canadian... just kidding :L
