Not really true. DCS is going to machine a few (2-3?) and then send them to a couple of selected people just before the official production starts. I'm going to guess they'll start mass producing them in about 2 weeks. After they're cast, they have to be heat treated. That process takes 2 days. Then they have to be delivered to a machine shop and get machined. That takes another day or two. Then they have to be picked up and boxed for shipment; taking another couple of days. Then they have to be shipped, and that can take anywhere from a day to two weeks to arrive at their destination point. So I'm going to guess I'll receive mine in the 2nd week of April.

For the latest updates, go to www.crossfireinjection.net--NEWS. That website will show you all of the updates from the very beginning until now. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to read them. And that website will also direct you to all of the tooling pictures that have been taken.

Any idea who will get them first? I'm thinking the guy that was used as the test mule will get one for sure and one of the guys that designed it has one already and the other has the original so there should be 2 more to be sent to a good home. Hopefully somebody that can do some testing on it and give us some numbers. A magazine article would be great.:thumb

I agree. Someone who has access to a dyno needs to do a test and give us a copy of the dyno printout. I would think DCS themselves would do another dyno test with their new castings.

I would think DCS has been pretty busy lately trying to get this Renegade project going. I'm sure they will be doing additional dyno testing once these new castings become available. The dyno sheets however will only reflect those particular engines the tests are being conducted on. As my '82 is running a mild roller cam, the Renegade will perform differently on my engine.

Let me just say this: if I find out someone is trying to sell their wares on this site and get free advertising - they will be banned.

It costs me a hell of a lot of time and money to keep this site up and running and I don't do it to help freeloaders make a buck.

Just an FYI...

That's a good question Nelson84. As I have waited for a whole year now, I sure don't mind waiting a little longer. DCS claims they have solved all of the casting problems and they'll be casting the production units real soon. I believe the original welded-up prototype was tested on an '82 owned by one of the owners. And then another manifold was tested on someone's '84 with a 383" in it. I would think the very first ones will go to people who have agreed to test them on a dyno and have also agreed to give testimonials. As they're still fooling around with last minute changes, I'd rather get one of the production manifolds. From reading the latest 3-22-10 progress report, it sounds like DCS will be casting them within the next 2 weeks. That's good for me because my garage still has my '68 in it and the only place I can work on mine is outside. As you know, I live up in the mountains about 30 miles east of Fresno. And it has been real cold and rainy up here; making it impossible for me to work on my '82 until the weather gets decent. So I would much rather get mine 2-3 weeks from now when the weather improves even more.

If for some reason DCS sent me one of these first ones, I'd put it on and test it doing some 0-60's and some 60-100's; timing it with a hand held stopwatch. But there's no way I'll drive all the way to Fresno and put it on a dyno just for their sake. But if DCS gave me a manifold free of charge AND paid for the dyno time I'd consider doing it. But I know that will never happen.

I'm going to Florida in a few weeks so I won't be able to get the new intake on for a while anyway. I can wait for the production run castings. I am just excited that it is finally ready to go.

And no, I am not selling my stuff or trying to advertise it on this site if it is directed to me by the moderator.

I'm just a guy with a crossfire that needs a boost in performance to match my fancy painted air box.:thumb

I sent DCS an e-mail yesterday; thanking them for finally making a true high performance intake manifold available to us. I don't know why Edelbrock never made any. I would guess they simply didn't feel there was a big enough market to warrant it. Then us Crossfire owners got completely overlooked when the exciting TPI systems came along in 1985.

Nelson, let me introduce you to Rob. He's not a moderator. He's the man that owns the place - lock, stock and barrel - and forum. ;)

Moderator? No. I own this site. The site that you're hawking your wares on....as far as I'm concerned.

So before I take the valuable time out of my day to investigate, is there any reason why you're supposedly hawking your intakes across forums? Because if there is, I expect to get an inquiry from you asking what the cost is to advertise here.

I expect that I've made my point clear....

Nelson84 and I are not affiliated with DCS in any way. We're both customers who are anxiously awaiting our new Renegades. The rude comment "vettoz" made about our "free promotional work" was unnecessary and I would imagine that rude comment is the reason you're now suspecting we are vendors? I think it would be very nice if vettoz spoke up and cleared the air on this matter.

Meanwhile I hope DCS gets their loose ends tied up and gets these manifolds into production. Us pre-buyers have been very patient as DCS has been holding our money for an entire year now.

Wow its been a year now??? I think we need another update.

I live in Canada and part of the year in Montana, I have nothing to do with DCS, except I was one of the prebuy people trying to get this intake made.

Go ahead and investigate give DCS a call or email them. If I was involved those intakes would have been shipped a year ago and everybody would have enjoyed the past year with the extra HP.

Don't listen to a few people trying to screw with me on this forum. You moderators know who I am talking about. just scroll up a few post.

Nelson84, I just dug through my files and found my copy of the $460 cashier's check I mailed to DCS on March 24th 2009. So it has now been one year and one day since I sent my check. If the Renegade performs as well as the original prototype, then the long wait will be worth it.

You say you "was" one of the pre-buy people? Does that mean you backed out and got a refund? Or was that "was" just a bad choice of a word?

Call it what you will.
The intake was advertised , people that are interested are in the loop via emails from DCS as to the production status.
All I see is you two reguritating the intake across the C4 Forums to obviously disinterested people .I am at a loss to understand you constantly bringing it to the front in the face of the negative responses you get especially in regards to it's yet as proven performance increase over existing CFI alternatives.
Get your intake , run it , acccurately document the before /after results ( not Mr Nelson's SOTP method ) and then tell everybody how good it is

Are you speaking of the 4 people in the SmokinVette C4 forum who are constantly beating the Renegade down? Or are you speaking in behalf of ALL the forum members? Whenever I make a Renegade related post, I'm directing my views to those members who are NOT pre-buy participants; those who are NOT on the DCS e-mail list. If you are not running a Crossfire vettoz, I don't see how any of this concerns you.

This thread is posted in the C4 Technical and Performance section. As of late, the direction is unrelated. Regardless of why and how, it needs to get back on topic, or there will be no further need for it.

Thank you,

No I didn't pull out of the prebuy, ........<SNIP> Your metaphor is disgusting and not within the posting guidelines as set forth for our community!! <SNIP>....... I was one of the first people to order a renegade and still am so maybe I will be getting a renegade early, who knows. I guess if they ask for the shipping payment you will be the lucky one to get it early.

To get back on track of this topic lets discuss the additional 33 hp at the rear wheels:thumb. How much more rubber will I leave at the stop light? 20 more feet or 30 feet???? Have to wait and see;shrug. I'm thinking 30-35 feet.:D
