Take a look at this after market monster! And the price is not to bad as well. I can see this as a bolt in application for more power than anyone really needs. Yep, this engine they call a "Merlin" and a six speed, and I am all set for the summer!

Very interesting. I want to see the whole dyno run. Who starts at 4000 rpm?! Looks like a nice torque curve, You know it's a kick in the a$$ at any rate. And the $ is meant...the rest of the car better be built for it, too.

I'm willing to be a test mule for a "durability exercise"...

Merlin engine, what's in a name?

I took the name of the engine "Merlin" as being rather ironic, at least in my case. My Dad flew P-51s during WWI out of England. I heard years ago about the transition from whatever the P51 had before the Merlin, and how much he ( and the rest of the pilots) liked the Merlin. I intend to place this "Merlin" in my 88 at some point. Perhaps I will feel the same change in power ( on a smaller scale) than the old stick and rudder guys felt some years ago over the skies of England and Germany. I recall my Dad saying the change made the P51 what it was........
I really like the idea, but agree that a total make over from engine, to clutch and trans is in order. I would think the rearend would not be a problem..?
