Took my girl out for lunch but she said she was in a hurry so she wanted to drive through McDonald's. She got a happy meal and I got a 32oz coke with my food order. She was supposed to hold the coke, but got pre-occupied with the little video game she got in the happy meal. I took a corner back into work, the coke hit the passenger side floor board, tidal waved, and then it all collected under the seat!!!!! :mad :eek :(

I took it home after I dropped her off, removed the seat (pretty easy and quick) and scrubbed it with soap and water. Now it's drying.

Does anyone know if that will get rid of the coke or any stains?? There doesn't seem to be any stains, but it's still not dry. Also, what it the best cleaner for the carpet? It's light tan.

Thanks,

Get your hands on a shop-vac to suck up the excess moisture.

You will probably have to water it down many times to thin out the syrup. Use the shop vac each time and also make sure when you are satisfied that enough of the syrup is gone, leave the windows down for several days if possible to make sure the interior dries out fully. It would probably help if you left the seat out while it is drying.

Make sure to use the water sparingly so as not to totally soak the inside.

Coke in the carpet

I used to install seat covers, etc. back in the 50's and 60's. We dreaded coke stains more than anything else - even stained rugs with a car full of little kids, if you know what I mean.
My 2cents would be to completely remove and replace the carpet and underlayment, scrubbing the bare floor thoroughly. At least take it all out, soak, rinse and dry carpet and underlayment repeatedly. If any remains, it will turn into a really disgusting musty mess.
Good luck.

She's a brunette which is why I figured it would be safe this one time for fast food to be in the car. No more I can assure you.

I will scrub it down again today and use a shop vac to suck the moisture out.

Actually, I noticed with the seat out the 'vette could become a practical car. :) You can put a suitcase or something there.

Lifter 1 makes an excellent product for carpet stains. it gets almost anything out.... old or new. Another product, more readily available is called 'spot shot' it is in a blue can with an orange top. I truly believe the lifter 1 product and spot shot are the same thing, because they even smell the same.... spot shot can be found at publix, wal-mart, etc.

spot shot

Thanks Bob!

You still haven't seen my Corvette yet! One day you'll have to make it down. Let me know before hand so I can bring it to the cruise rather than the Camaro.
