Eckler's has a "computerized" device called "Priority Start" that monitors battery power when the ignition is off and detects excess voltage drain for whatever reason - it automatically disconnects should there be a drainage on the battery and automatically reconnects when the key is turned on... Does anyone use one of these? It sounds like something that would be good for those of us that don't drive our little "rockets" everyday. But before I spend $70 I thought I'd see what you guys had to say about it.:w:upthumbs

I can't answer your inquiry (though it sounds like a useful device to have) but I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable among our community will check in soon on the subject.

I can, however, say :welcome Glad you joined us! :thumb

I guess the application would be for people who find that they use the car right at the limit of when the parasitic loss starts to effect them. So in that case, may allow those people to leave the battery connected "almost all the time" and only have this system as a back up to dc it when they go over the limit.

Just an opinion, but I would think one of the two more common approaches would work better (either keeping the car on a battery tender or installing a battery disconnect) in that they (unlike the priority start medthod) would not allow the battery to constantly drain up and down for the times when it does so but doesnt reach the point that the priority start disconnects it.

Good luck :pat

Thanks

I guess the battery tender would really be the way to go. Thanks again for your help.:beer
