They bored it 20 thousandths over, so what is it now a 370?
If you have the stock crank it is a 352 +/- a few .01¨ Most shops bore to .030¨ which makes a 350 with a stock crank into a 355.

Yup,Grumpy you are late, and SPANISHVETTS is right. I didn't come back before , cause the decision was made. One thing for sure, this was a QUICK turnaround. I hope your car runs great and you're happy with it :w :beer

Break in period

Like I have said before I will probably get my vette back Wednesday or Thursday by the latest. Now they used my old cam they said it was in perfect condition so that does not need to be broken in. The motor does have the break in oil in it that we will run for about 25 minutes and then change it. The people at the rebuilders told me to run conventional for about 1500 miles to seat the rings better, but after that I am going to run Mobil 10w40 synthetic. My question is how should I drive the car after we change the break in oil, and after I change it after 1500?

I think 1500 miles is pretty well broken in. A change of oil and you're ready to drive like you used to! :upthumbs

So just kind of baby it around the first 1500, and if i see a Rustang pull up next to me just bite my tongue?

Yeah, you'll run into him somewhere later.:L:L:L And get a magnetic drain plug if you haven't got one already. Those are awesome! They'll catch the most minute shaving.

Make sure that the engine is at operating temperature when you change that oil. Yeah, I know it stinks because it's so hot underneath there and you're so close.

What about the oil filter magnet to go along with the dran plug magnet?

I don't think that would be necessary because the function of the filter itself is to filter out those smaller elements.

Well then I am curious to find out, why do you need a drain plug magnet if the filter, filters the particles in the oil?

Do you have the car back already? The draind plug will pick up any metal shavings or chips or whatever that could occur and can alert you to problems that might otherwise go undetected with out it.

There are many different opinions on engine break in. Personally I would say change the oil out at maybe 200 mi, then drive it a little more spirited, change it again at 500, then drive it like you stole it :r Change at 1,000 then switch to Mobil 1 at 1500. I'm sure that there will be disagreement, and there are lots of more knowedgable people here than me.

I think you should start a new topic on engine break in to attract a crowd :beer
