Next dumb question. How does one tell if you have pulse wipers on a 1985?

Should be standard.

The wiper switch has 4 modes.

Delay, Lo, High, or Mist

Delay is activated by sliding the wiper knob to the first position up from the Off (O) position.

The position closest to Off will give maximum delay.

The delay interval decreases as the control knob is moved toward the Lo position.

LOW (Lo) speed is obtained by sliding the control knob to the second position up from off.

HIGH (Hi) speed is obtained by sliding the control knob to the extreme top position.

The Mist feature can be operated in two modes.
(Continueous mode) is activated by moving the control knob to the extreme bottom position and holding it in this position. The wipers will continue to operate until the control knob is released and allowed to return to the OFF (o) position.

The second mode, if you depress the control knob to the extreme bottom position (momentarily) and then release the control knob. This will start a single wash cycle which will deliver washer solvent to the windshield, wipe the windshield dry and then shut off. If additional solvent is necessary during this cycle, the button may be held down and washer solvent will continue to flow until the button is released.

The damn switches are problematic, though.
