Replacement battery for 1996 PKE Key Fob?

I'm having trouble finding a replacement battery for my PKE key fob. I've found batteries that say CR2450, but they do not fit properly in the key fob. The edge of the battery needs to have a slight depression to fit under a small plastic piece in the battery compartment. Has anyone else encountered this problem? The existing battery is made by Sanyo.

Had the same problem. Solved by inserting the battery, first in the 4 o"clock position & then pushing it under the tang.

That's how I tried it, too. I was afraid that if I pressed down too hard that plastic piece would break off. The OEM battery does not appear to put much force on that tang. Is it flexible?

Try Batteries Plus, they should have them in stock . CR24050 (they may also have them listed as CR2450BP) is what they take. You can locate a store near you on their website: http://www.batteriesplus.com/index.html.

Jim - Had same problem. I bought the "proper" battery at Eckard's - Didn't fit - Called the local Chevy dealer - they had one for less than Eckard's - and it FIT!!! Go figure. Later, JPC
