I'm ready to order a left side yoke for my '81 with auto transmission, but not sure what to look for in the descriptions I'm looking at. I've been looking through Mid America and Ecklers online. One lists Reproduction and the other lists Reman and Repro. Which should I get? My C3 is completely stock and will stay that way. I am just looking to get it back on the road and be dependable so I can enjoy it again.
Any preferences for either vendor, or another I haven't looked at, and which unit should I purchase (reman or Repro)?

1st welcome to CAC!!!!
2nd.I am guessing you are referring to the rear end yokes????
or are you referring to the rear end????
and they come reconditioned...
you can also try corvette central,or corvette America if you so choose..
any of them are fine....

I'm referring to the left side yoke on the rear end, that leads to the left rear wheel. The area that holds the u-joint is damaged from a bad u-joint that the previous owner didn't change when it needed. The u-joint banged around and wore the shoulder that the u-joint cup sits in.

Is there a wear difference between reproduction and remanufactured? Should I be weary of a reproduction not fitting properly? I haven't had to work with rear ends before, and being a Corvette, I want to get the right part the first time and have it last as it should. My other pet cars were 69 Chevelles; 3 of them. You could beat those things nearly to death, but couldn't kill them, so this Corvette is a whole different breed to me. It's not my daily driver, but I want to be sure I can get to my destination and back without worrying about something breaking.

I just read another part description on one site that lists a "threaded style", a "cap style" and a u-joint style". I don't know what the difference is between those. I haven't pulled the dif' yet to look at the yoke in detail, because I want to be ready to order the part before I go disassembling things.

Repro = reproduction.
A new part which duplicates to original yoke as close as possible.

Reman = remanufactured.
A used part which has been reconditioned such that it functions almost as well as a new part.

chances are you are only going to find reconed yokes.
I've dealt with corvette central in the past and have had pretty
good luck with there parts,plus the stand behind them if there is a problem.
if you have any more questions,don't hesitate to ask..

Not sure why your post is in the parts for sale section, maybe the mods could move it. 1981's didn't come with 'cap' style yokes, those were primarily big block diffs. Yours should have a threaded u-bolt.
