Seeking '66 ragtop
Hello all. Prior '87 ragtop owner (long gone now) seeking my next vette. My wife was born in '66 so ideally I am seeking a either a '66 or a September-built '67 but like others here, I have limited funds ($25K-$35K target budget) so it may need to be a project car.

Welcome to the CAC

Occasionally you will find a good driver Mid Year in the mid 30s. Just keep looking.

Thanks. I will continue. I actually have an "ace in the hole" in that I have family connections to nationally recognized auction houses (Think a step or two down from Barrett-Jackson) so I have seen a number of "Bargains" flow through a few auctions. Last year I nearly bought a '64 327 straight drive ragtop all original with only 56K miles on it's odo for the low 30's. Asking price at auction was $44K and it did not sell for the $36K bid ($36+ buyer fees) but after the auction was over I did get a verbal confirmation of what I could buy it for "out of auction" (eg. no auction fees) and while it was a good deal, we decided to pass on it as I didn't have it all in "free cash" at the time & didn't want to take out even a $10K loan.

Here is one that's going through the Auburn Spring Auction that started today. It will be up on Saturday.

Welcome aboard and happy hunting. . . . . . .

True, not a ragtop but it will be worth watching to see what it bids to and if it sells. It looks to be a very nice car in the photos for the estimated sell price range. I've had both coupe and convertible mid years in both 327 and 427 engines. My favorite all around fun driving and easy to live with car was my '65 convertible 300 horse 4 speed 3:36 posi. Perfect 50/50 weight balance, plenty of power and 18.5+ mpg on the interstate at 70 mph.

The price did look good but I missed it going across the block so don't know what it eventually sold at so I'll have to monitor the site to see if they post the final sales.
