sort of stumble at idle

Hey Tom! Let me know next time you're in town! We'll get the "twins" together! Doesn't yours have gray interior?

Nah, mines RED. And we usually come in the pickup or the wifes' car as we almost always are hauling something to KC or from KC. :eyerole

Hey Tom,
This is the first time that I noticed your odyssey. The good thing is that due to your self muitalation, you can't pull your hair out. If it would help, we can arrange for you to borrow my trailer to haul your vette somewhere. I use a local family garage in Merriam, and they always find my problem and get me rolling again. But I'm sure that there are a few more garages in my neighborhood than yours.
PM me if I can help.

Hey Paul, thanks for the offer, I am going to try the new knock sensor module and the ECM if that doesn't work. You guys are right, you have many more choices up there than I have here.

Paul, I haven't been on that site for some time. I actually met Paul (C4C5Specialist) at Bowling Green at CruiseFest 2005, he's a very nice and helpful guy.

You may want to send him the link for this and see what his opinion is. The trailer will be in town here for another month or so. Then I'll take it to the lake for the winter so I won't have to pay high storage rent here in town. So let me know within 2-3 weeks. In fact, you can keep it all winter for me if you want.

Paul, I am really thankful for the offer, too bad I didn't talk to you this past weekend...I was in KC for a quick trip...in my pickup...could have pulled the trailer home and stored it for you this winter.

The self-mutilation is healing reasonably well, go back to the Dr Weds, hopefully he'll release me to do some of the things that I have been missing.

Well, I am able to do a few little things now with the hand well on it's way to healing. I changed out the Knock sensor module....still no love. Still doing exactly the same thing, still running crappy after going into closed loop. I am about to try and find some place that I can take it to.

Just a few Q´s here for those who "know".
Does "knock" retard timing?
Can a cracked flywheel cause knock?

Just a thought since no one mentioned it.

Harmonic balancer?

Damn Tom,I wished I was still in Missouri I'd drive over and fix that thing if it Killed me!!:thumb I'm sure you have every tool I could possibly need!!:D:D:D

Yes,a flywheel can cause a knock!! I had a Olds Cutlass here once that had a 3.8 that had a heck of a knock in it!!I even bought a salvage yard engine to put in it,I found a crack around 2 bolt holes at the crankshaft when I pulled it!!!:hb:hb:hb Didn't sound at all like a cracked flywheel,I thought it had a skirt broke off a piston!!:chuckle:chuckle

:D:D:D

Junkie, I'd damn near pay your way out here if you could get this fixed. Right now I'm trying figure out someone I can take it to to get it fixed. I've got a guy in Garden City (about 25 miles away), that I have taken my things to when I could or didn't want to mess around with them. But I'm not sure whether or not if he will work on it. I darn sure trust him with my vehicles so I'm not worried about that, just need to figure out if he'll try and trouble shoot it and fix it for me.

Tom,

Why don't you call Don Freely Auto Clinic in OP, KS and talk to Mike. Tell him I sent you....the guy that had the 2 spark plug wires switched....he may be able to give you some things to try.....

Tom, are you getting any more DTC's?

I am having an issue with KS's also. Just replaced both last night and DTC 43 is still there. It does run a bit better, but I want the SES light off!!

I have been following this thread. Some great info!

Tom, I know you have run several scans and posted the results.

Any chance you can run another scan and post it?

I believe the solution to your problem is in the scan numbers.

Just my opinion, but I am sticking to it! :)

Good Luck! :thumb

SAVE THE :w

Gregory, yes I can run another scan, just take me a few days before I can get to it again.

Tom,
Trailer is still available.
Paul

Paul, I told the wife about your offer, but I think we can find someone closer here, and I have a trailer here that I can borrow. But thanks again for the offer.

Still getting the code 43 in history, nothing current. I know (in my heart) it has to do with a sensor somewhere, because in open loop it seems to run pretty good, but as soon as it goes into closed loop, is when things seem to go south.

kcrick yes I have had the EGR off, cleaned and reinstalled .... twice. Thanks for the name of the mechanic...but I really need to find someone locally. LT4man and Junkie have both said they wish they could come out and help....but I'm just too far out here in the booneys.

Mine keeps getting a history code also. Grrrrr....

Tom, I am sure you aready checked this, but my vette was doing the same thing, and even though the mech rebuild my dist, still had the same problem, so I put a new dist in and , it works like a charm,, just though, you might what to check your dist,, hope this helps
