160mph in a 1980
I would say that in order to hit 160 in a daily driver 1980, you'd need HP in the mid 400's and final gearing in the low 3's, upper 2's. It feels that around 150+ you start to incur too much aerodynamic drag to go much faster. Only HP can overcome that obstacle...
