My wife had a bag in the trunk last night with a can of hair spray protruding out the top. When she closed the trunk it caused the can to spray hair spray on the bottom of the trunk lid. You already know what happened...discoloration. When she heard the hissing she stopped and tried to wipe it up but a spot about the size of a small saucer is discolored. Anyone have any ideas of how I can fix that. It is colored plastic I beleive and not paint. I would rather look at the discoloration than paint over it and it not match the rest of the lid. Any tips appreciated.

Thanks.

Chris

This may be a good opportunity to purchase one of those carpeted covers for the underside of the trunk.

I agree with Bill-dub-ya. While its a cosmetic fix, those carpeted deck lid covers are very attractive. I believe you can get them color matched to the interior, and embroidered with the C5 logo. It won't remove the discoloration, but it will cover it up nicely. Out of sight, out of mind.

Chris,

You might consider installing the 3-piece mirror kit for the underside of the trunk lid for something different. I bought one for Alan's 2002, but it's a Christmas present so I don't have a picture of it yet. Here's a link if you're interested...

how do you get a photo attached on your signature when you post

Thanks a lot for all the tips and links folks. My wife was sick about it although it was not really a big deal. I told her I didn't know what to do and she said can't you ask on the vette site. I said ..good thinking!

Ya know, I have contemplated the C6 eventhough I still haven't seen one in person yet. I just love the way the C5 looks so good! A few guys at work (the ones who are always talking about getting a vette but never do) have been to see the C6 and rave about it. I need to check it out I guess.

Thanks.

Chris

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope you get a good fix from some of these nice folks... I just had to say hi and tell you I love your Torch Red Vette. My '94 was a TR and I looked for a C5 TR in my price range. The only one I found at the time had what I suspected to be "electrical issues" and I was scared of it so I walked away. I later found the '98 Carmine Red I currently own with no issues, low mileage (25k), and priced just right. She's a beauty and I've gotten lots of compliments on the color so it worked out just fine. And afterall - she is still RED!

And you gotta love those convertibles!
Take care and Enjoy!

Chris,

This is 1 of the last things done in the paint area @ the Corvette plant, they call it blackout. I've seen the robots apply the dull black paint finish.

Later . . . . . .
