2000 C-5 Convert. Red
IN June this year I bought a 1996 Convert, 6 speed, CE, some modifications made by the first owner are ( from invoices) Install
Chevrolet "Hot Cam", Heads modified by Wesking Engineering,
Exhust manifold coated. Rear end gear4:09, Dul friction clutch,
Adjustable fuel reg.,Borla exhust. Block hugger in out, Invoice states " these modifications intended for off road use. In plain talk can any one tell me what all this means ?

The 4:09 gears would indicate you have a real stump puller. Block hugger is a term used for headers that fit close to the engine block. Exhaust manifold coated probibly means there ceramic coated. Hot cam is a high performance cam offered by GM. The statement " intended for off road use," generally means it's intended for racing only and won't pass a tailpipe test. Heads modified means they have probibly been ported and polished, and maybe more extensive work. Hope this helps I'm sure others will chime in. Sounds like the previous owner built ya a 1/4 miler. 84 CF 91 ZR-1

What all that means is.....

1. In some states you may not pass an emissions test
2. You don't pass as many gas stations as you should
3. The sound of the exhaust is more aggressive than a stocker
4. You bought yourself a fairly modified car that should run super strong in the 1/4 mile. In fact, if they did that work right, you should be able to smoke a Z06 all day long with one cylinder tied behind your back!

Any dyno sheets with that paper work, or 1/4 mile time slips?

Wow, he's in CA, possibly the strictest state on emissions?

Those are some nice mods done. That's quite a significant amount of money and labor already put into there. 4:09 rears are awesome, that'll give you some face jarring bursts off the line!

No Smog?

Hey Gator-

Do you have smog testing in Dixon? You may pass the visual and the tailpipe, but then again, you may not. The attachment is legalese for "you're on your own, pal", when it comes to smogging the car. Not all areas of CA have testing, guys.
