I have a 1992 Coupe. In the hose that runs from the heater core to the TB, close to the core, there is what looks like a in-line filter. My books don't tell me what it is. Anyone out there have an idea?
Sounds like you're talking about the hot water shut-off valve. It operates on vacuum and keeps hot water from circulating through the heater core when you don't need it, i.e., when it's warm and you have the heater controls either in the "Off" position, or they're in the a/c or vent position and towards the "cool" side. :cool
There is nothing else hooked to it that I can see. Just this thing that looks sort of like a inline filter and the clamps holding it. I had thought about the cut-off idea when I first saw it, but there is not cable or vac. line attached.
I have the same item in the heater hose coming from the waterpump and going to the heater core......it has a flow arrow on it and I think it may be a inline filter to prevent the fine heater core passages to get plugged up.............
Here it the item. It is in the top hose and there is a strap around it holding the two hoses going to/from heater/tank. You can just make out the clamps on each side.
