Going too fast over the hill.
I'm a C2 owner looking at a 76 tonight - the current owner says he has a white with black interior numbers match SB with 70k miles, auto, ac, ps, that he put tires, shocks, new rear spring on. He says the interior is completely ok, but the paint is old original and there is a chip in the rear about the size of a nickle.

I tried a web search and prices are all over the map. Please tell me what you think....

With the paint questionable and the interior ok....my opinion 5500-6500. Of course frame/winshield pillar rust could bring the price way down as usual.

I agree with BURGLAR, with that year and brief description, that sounds about right. A good car for a good price. Defintiely can do a lot with that Vette. :)

Of course I'm partial to 76's but as long as you don't have any rust in the critical areas (birdcage pillars, frame kick-up)
you can have a nice driver for a good price $5000 on up.
I paid $4500 for mine when it wasn't running (of course I didn't have CAC then) Steering column was busted $900 for a column and I was driving it in 1999.
Good Luck

Thanks for the help with the prices. I forgot the camera, and I didn’t take the car out in the pouring rain. I will drive out to see it Wed or Thur.

The paint is great. One big chip on the back fender is all that looks funky - except for the hood. The hood has a couple of tasteful blue stripes in a U shape around the center bulge but the white body paint is scuffed a little close to the windshield. I also noticed that the hood is not smooth on the underside. I am guessing it is a hand laid aftermarket hood. Are factory hoods all press molded?

The aftermarket air cleaner rubs on the hood too, The interior is fine except for the clock. The VATS alarm doesn't work. The frame looks to have only surface rust and the exhaust system is very rusty - single exhaust from the engine? dual at the rear?

I will start and exercise the car in a couple of days. If it runs good, is it worth the $8200 he is asking?

1976

Bought a 1976 around the end of June or first of July. Car had been repanited (nice job but not as good as could have been), if I keep it long enough I'll get it done right. Interior is an 8 out of 10. Tach, and all but one of the gauges didn't work (replaced), shifter had quite alot of play in it(replaced it). No cracks, weather stripping was real good. Car had not been driven since 1998, just started and moved in and out of garage. Everything thing else on the car works excellent. Replaced all four calipers. Bought the car for $5000 and have another $975 in all the replacement parts. Bought this one for the wife to drive and she's having a blast with it. Maybe this will give you some idea where you want to be as far as pricing on the one your looking at.

77 Vett

Bought a 77 in April for $7000. It had been re-painted and new interior.

Have a 76 L82 4 speed car with every option for that year. She had 90k on it, a fresh engine rebuild with some go fast goodies. Needed a lot of bodywork and interior was in tough shape...more my specialty than mechanical issues...she isn't real pretty but drove it away for $4,000 cash. It has become my daily driver as I have absolutely fell in love with it!

For the car you describe, provided that the mechanicals are in decent shape..check those calipers REAL close...I would say no more than $6,500 tops. Good luck!

i bought a 75 last year, mechanically sound ,interior rough, and abdullah the butcher must have painted it.
I drove it onto the flat bed myself for 4500. cdn about $ 3,200 american. i'd say get him down to 5,000$ or walk.imho mike
