Now I have a wobble

amazed at how much effect a coroded Opti had on this car. It feels like it is gliding along and I have not put the new tires on it yet.

My advice to anyone who has a rough ride and are trying to balance tires etc. Pay for an Opti check you may save yourself the money you would have thrown at the suspension and still have the problem.;LOL

I was able to get on it at 40 MPH and run it out to the upshift at 90 MPH and was amazed that the ASR was active all lthe way from 60 to about 85:chuckle[/quote]

I just noticed where you live and now I know what's causing the problem. IT's COLD OUT THERE!!!!! Everything will shake at this time of year:)

My daughter spent much of her life in Lockport and now lives with her husband in Romeoville where he is a cop. He runs one of those DARE cop drag cars. If the problem persists I can put you in touch with him and he may be able to give you some good local leads.

I raced out at the Grundy County circle track when is was asphalt. I also ran several drag cars at U.S. 30 drag strip many. many, many years ago.

COLD, COLD, COLD!!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!:ohnoes

Keep warm,
Denny

Were you referrinig to U.S. 30 right outside Chicago? If so, I use to race there, too, about the same time as you. Back in the late 60s/early 70s.

I'm just wondering what caused you to move away from considering the suspension as the cause all the way to the ignition system.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

If you look at replies 19 and 20 you will see that the opti shakes were mine and Brewsters were corrected with a good wheel balance.

As for the clue that it was the engine My gas mileage went to the basement and I had a hesitation miss at steady throttle. I pulled the intake because it had an oil leak and when I re fired the car the miss was even worse.

I then pulled the plugs on the drivers side because I could hear a miss in the exhaust. I found some dark plugs replaced them and it did not change how it ran. Paid for a diagnostic and it showed the number one cylinder was not firing when the rpm went up from idle.

New opti and all is well (I THINK WITH AN OLD CAR WHO KNOWS WHAT IS LURKING OUT THERE TO GO BAD.):v

In the days before all the electronics etc we had a saying Low speed miss valves high speed miss ignition.

It still holds true with today's sophisticated systems
