The next step on the 71 is the exhaust. I've read enough threads here to decide to go with a Chamberred under care exhaust instead of side pipes.

My question is where/who has the best kit. I've seen MAD, Corvette Central, Ecklers etc but the kits all seem different in design, number of chambers, exhaust tips (included/not included), and price.

Which kit has the best fit, sound, and completeness all the way to the tips? If you have this setup on your car how do you rate it for sound? Nice roar or tacky noise?

This site always give great advice. I just want to thank everyone in advance.

I installed the system from MAD last year on my stock L48 4 speed 72 rag top. they had it on sale for 249.00, it installed easy and fit up was pretty good. Had to use my exhaust tips. Should be welded after its all done. Sounds okay at idle and not loud at all at speed, but if you want it to sound like a midyear with side pipes - it doesn't.

I just installed dynomax ceramic coated headers and the chambered exhaust system on my car and it sounds very much like the side pipe cars I have heard. It is pretty loud, by my standards but not too loud unless I had to drive this car daily. My system came from Mid America, check out bobchad's page on his exhaust install. You might want to consider an H or X pipe somewhere in the system to reduce popping when decelerating, unless you like that sound. Again, I have heard sidepipes that pop when decelerating. Exhaust are like opinions, everyone has at least two.
