Help! Will I fit

Hello! I'm looking for some input. Due to five herniated discs it is difficult to get me (6ft 290lbs) in or out of nearly any car. The main issue is having to bend my neck and back to get my head past the roof when entering a car. Being 54 and divorced my solution is natuaqlly a Corvette! I'm pretty sure the convertible top will eliminate this issue but will I fit in the seat. I have very broad shoulders and a belly to match I haven't tried to sit in one yet as I will fall in love and may make a bad decision. I had a 74 years ago and was only about 40 lbs. lighter but I fit in it. My head hit the sunroof in a 2001 SS Monte if I didn't sit a certain way. Any and all thoughts please.

I'm 6'1" and 270lbs and don't have a problem getting in/out of my C5 Z06 or my C6 GS vert... prior to the Z-06 I had an '04 Vert, again no problems... having the telescoping steering wheel is a real plus though.

And yes, you will fall in love with the C5!!

I am 66 y/o, weigh about 305 and am 6'3" tall. I fit fine and the only issue I had was to get seat belt extenders (free from dealer) to make latching the belt easier. I have an '04 Z06. Good luck with your decision.

Welcome to CAC. Like others have said, I too am in my late 50's, and 6'1" and weigh a bit less less than you (about 225), and I fit fine into my 01 coupe. If you were talking about a C4 it would be a completely different story.

Interesting name there. Missouri-Kansas? Keep us posted on your search.

Considering the discs in your back, my experience is limited but it seems my 2002 coupe was much less harsh than the current 1998 convertible that I have now. I would also take a good friend who can be honest with you, watching your reactions when you get in. I once had a Lotus dealer try to trade me almost even up on an Elise but even at 5' 9" it was comic trying to get in with mild arthritis in one hip.

Yes! that is exactly the way I get in and out and it works great. I am 6'6" and 240 lbs. I had to modify the seat mounting so that it is lower and further back but I find My 2004 coupe very comfortable. It has sport seats. The only hard part is when I park near another car and can't open the door all the way. This car has big doors and they take some room. I tacked carpet to the garage wall where I park so that I can open the door as far as possible without damage.
This is not the easiest car to get in and out of but well worth it. I wouldn't trade for anything. I only wish I would have bought a Corvette sooner.

Interesting dilemma. I, too, suffer with a bad back and had originally purchased a 94 for my first Corvette. I began to have back problems given that tight around the curves, stiff C4 suspension. I was afraid my Corvette ownership days were numbered until I drove a C5 (98). After purchasing my 98 it got better and I've taken many roadtrips with a reasonable amount of short breaks to stretch my legs AND my back.

Good luck working through it. Hope you find the one meant for you sooner than later!

Nobody can really answer that question for you. The only way to know for sure is to sit in as many as you can. C5's , C6's coupes , convertibles, top up , top down and hopefully drive them . Your body will answer you loudly one way or the other.

Don't worry about if you will fit cause when you set in the cockpit of a C5 she will fit around you like a glove (Smokin Z)

Gonna go look at a 2000 tomorrow. What is the option code for sport seats? Actually what is the difference? I was a Parts Manager in a GM store a long time ago but we didn't stock Corvettes.

Well I did fit but credit would not support this car. I did get approved for a 99 convertible with 200000 plus miles according to car fax. The odometer says 54000. Hmmm... Anyone have experience with that many miles? My buddy is a GM certified Corvette tech but still the miles... Thoughts please!

That's a little weird unless somebody changed out the whole dash. I take anything Carfax says with a grain of salt anyway. I'm sure you can tell a big difference between a 54k mile car and a 200k mile car. The LS platform was designed to be a 200k mile engine, but I'd have your buddy take a look at it if possible. 6', 195, 58 years old. Yup, this is the way to get into a C5. It may look like grandpa getting in, but once inside, who cares? It's a blast at any age!

Got a 2001! I do fit and loving it. Its got a couple issues but its pretty sweet. The dreaded oil pressure sender, a whine which i believe is a belt and a click going into fwd n rev. I suspect half shaft there. I do have a couple of questions. The console lid has red piping around it, the calipers are red and the front ones have raised Corvette lettering. Also the seats have a small red area with Corvette in black. I'm thinking the previous owner painted the calipers but that's a guess. Any ideas?
