zf6spd probleme..

THis is for my 1991 vette.

My clutch started to slip so I took the zf tranny down.
i got a brand new pressure plate from GM, and I got new organic
material on my clutch.
The flywheel whas pretty wear down, so I hade a machine shop machin
down itabout 1mm. The shop did know about the damper material in the flywheel
so they used a speciall fluid not to damage the damper material. I also
drainedthe clutch fluid and bleed it. So far so good.
I installed the hole thing, witch whas pretty hard work :)
The car runs fine, and the shifts is smooth as silk.
Now to the probleme.

When the car gets hot ( only then ),and when I brake the car hard, or
turn Hard I get a "click" sound from the slave cylinder/clutch area. And if
I just touch the clutch pedal, its enough to just push in the clutch
about 5mm, the sound dissapear?!

My ide is this..

Could it be that clutch fork, clutch fork ball, ( that I reused ) is
weardown and the 1mm I took of the FW could create a play in the clutch
system?

Or could it be a bad slave cylinder that cant hold the pressure when
hot? The car work fine, and I dont think its anny danger in all this. But I
really would like to know.
Mayby a longer slave cylinder pin would work?

pin

Are you saying you think your hearing the clutch pin move when you brake? I don't understand how you could here that over the engine...

I don't see the slave being bad. If it were allowing any air, your clutch would have tremendous play in it...

yeh i can only hear it with the window down and the engine at idel. It could also be a bad pivot ball on the cltuch fork, allowing the clutch fork touch the rotating pressure plate when braking.

I just have to take it apart again :(

Good luck! Let us know what you find...

i gues it is the clutch fork that hit the pressure plate, and cause the clicking sounds. Thats why i dont get the sounds if i brake hard from going reversed..
