ZR-1 Long-Term Value (LPE)

Jim,
I’ve been talking to JAGSFAN, (Jack Maxton Chevrolet) about the ZR-1. He’s supposed to give me a call when it comes in. It’s a red ’91, not sure if it’s being traded by an original owner or not. Have yet to hear anything from him. I called maybe a week ago to check on the status of the car, he said he’d give me a call when it comes in. I don’t work to far from there, so I may drive up on my lunch hour to check in with him... also gives me a reason to stop and drool over C6’s. I haven’t come across any Zs at local dealers, so this will be the first one I get to see up close.

I think that the ZR-1 will one day be a collectable Corvette. The Z was responsible for a great deal of progress for Corvette. From my memory, there was more fanfare back in the early ’90s over the ZR-1 than there is with the current C6 Z06. The ZR-1 will always be The King of The Hill.

I’m looking forward to seeing your Z! By May, we should be well out of these temperatures and the late snow fall.

Mercuiser did prepare LT5's for marine use, I saw a Scarab with a couple of them in it.
Taken from "Heart of the Beast", title page.

I think there was too. And the fact that that could happen without the internet is pretty impressive.

Now I can’t imagine what it would be like without the internet.

Absolutely more fanfare for the ZR-1. Remember, there was NOTHING in America that was close. The Viper wasn't out yet, Saleen's S7 was still on paper. Mosler's car was the same way. And the ZR-1 was such a radical departure from the base vette if only because of the engine technology and the fact that it was a co-op'd piece and not all proprietary GM. Also there were the endurance records it was breaking. Which stood for 10+ years until just recently being beat by VW's W12 engined car...

To the best of my knowledge, yes, only Corvette debuting in France.
