Has anyone received update disc's to their navigation system?
I seem to recall hearing that GM would supply free updates to the nav system CD/DVD on a yearly basis.
Has been 1 year since we bought the car and no updates rec'd as of yet.

Thanks!

i understand it does not include the 2005 C-6

So, for those of us who have '06's, does anyone know how we get the updated disc? My 2006 was purchased on 4/22/2006.

The updated disc is supposed to be available in August

thanks c4c5.....

has been 12 months and no postcard yet.....hmmmm.....

Nav Upgrades?

You are correct, if you are unfortunate enough to own a 05 C6 you get "SCREWED", and don't get the update free, but if you own a 06 or 07 I think you get the next 2 years updates free........I have no idea why GM/CHEVY chose to SHAFT the 05 owners but......OH!! WELL, that's just the way it goes.....
Hey maybe one of you guys could make me a copy..........LOL!!!

I haven't found any real important changes in my upgrade. From what I understand, the 2008MY cars use 2 DVD's for their system. Can anyone confirm?

I guess I'm not in the system yet. Of course, I only got my C6 last week, but I when I tried to enter my VIN on the GM Nav System page to update owner information, it told me my VIN was invalid.

I'll try it again in a few weeks to give them a chance to enter me into the records.

Update

I never asked for a update disc but one arrived in the mail. It cost $200.00 to purchase; you only get one free update; the rest you must buy. Too bad about 2005 C-5's; that really sucks.

I believe you just call GM Customer service. (Ask dealer.)

I have an 06 and just got the update after calling them. I think you will find
that there are two updates since you got yours. Mine was built after yours
and I think it was two I jumped to.

Will have one more free one. You have to ask for it. Comes with two CDs,
east and west.

I got a free update disk in January for my '06. I should be able to get another free update this coming January also.

The '08 does come with 2 disks. Since I just got my 08, I'll have to wait until September next year to see about getting updated disks for it. I wonder if the '08 disks will work in the '06?

I also have the Nav system in my '04 CTS-V and I have to pay for updates for it. All three cars seem to have different disk formats.

They told me I had one MORE free update. (Total two.)

But, I need HELP with my Nav.

When I store a destination into Memory Points then Personal ..

Why is it when I go back and touch a destination I’ve previously stored and put on the
list - and now want to activate - when I touch one of them, instead of it taking me to
the map where I can touch the bullseye to start the route ..

it, instead, opens a window called “Edit Memory Point” which goes nowhere.

If anyone can help me with this (or tell me a better way to store future destinations)
please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. You can email me direct if you wish.

Thanks a lot.

I just rec'd a 2 disc navigation package

I am the 2nd owner of a 2006 and I rec'd a postcard in July telling me I was going to get a free disc.
A month later I got a 2 disc package in the mail.

It will be interesting to see how it handles 2 discs.

BTW they are GM # 25976806U

I just looked closer at the 2 discs - One is for US/Canada-East. The other is for US/Canada- West

Hope this clears up the confusion I experienced.

Well, I got my second update disc in the mail about 2 months ago. I believe this is my last free update; my vette was purchased in Feb of 2006.

Good for you! :)

My '06 was purchased almost exactly a year ago, and my Sat-Nav disc is still the original the car came with. Does this mean I need to wait until August, 2009, for my replacement disc?

Nav. disc

I believe you have to be the original owner of the car or it will probably be mailed to the guy or gal who originally signed up for the system even if they have passed the car on.

P.S. It's not good form to end a sentanence with a preposition.:L

You are correct- gramatically, it is bad form to end a sentence with a preposition. Therefore, I shall attempt not to.
:chuckle

Actually, I am the first registered owner of my 2006. The car spent the first few months of its life as a demo, driven by the dealership owner. I purchased it in August, 2007, just as it was in danger of becoming two model years old, and at a fairly good price because of that. It came with only 3,500 miles on the clock.

I then went to this site C4C5Specialist recommended to put myself on the list to receive a new Sat-Nav disc, when it's created:

HI there,
Request discs here.
www.gmnavdisc.com

Allthebest, c4c5

Here I should mention that when prompted to enter my VIN, the site kept not recognizing it. This went on until late October 2007 (apparently, the fact that I had purchased the Vette needed to be relayed to GM, and that took nearly three months).

Since entering my information, I've heard nothing. I assumed it would be at least a year before I got my new disc. Now I'm thinking it may be even longer.

Call the Nav Center - the number is in your manual and request the disk. My first update was not sent and I had no luck on the site but the call worked like a champ. I have not received notification for this year's update as yet. The next version is now reputed to be available on the first of September.
