I'm not to great at finding all the places that sell these hoods. My problem is this I really hate the 82's stock air cleaner lid so I put a 84 lid on it. Now it rubs the bottom of the hood in the front. So I figure a L-88 hood will look great on the car and give me clearance.

I've seen a few guys displeased with what they received after buying one so tell me some vendors names I can trust in buying one of these and how well did it bolt up/gaps/sturdiness etc. etc.

I don't see the prices listed for their hoods though.

Has anyone used the 80-82 style high rise hood ????

I looked at vanacors website and they list a LT-1 longstyle hood has anyone bought one of these?

I contacted Vanacors and she emailed me back a quote. 525.00 for the hood 45.00 to crate it & 165.00 to ship it ...... So is 735.00 shipped about the going rate for these hoods or are there cheaper ones?

ACI here:

Have the invoice somewhere but I think it was around $650 with shipping. Maybe less.

ACI makes most of the fiberglass that the different vender's sell they are the manufacturer and are located in Toledo Ohio

I came across a ebay seller selling these hoods (samlisawells) I recall a thread on here maybe somewhere else to ... Memory sucks today LOL ... But anyways has anyone here bought one of these?

I have a 73-79 style, high-rise hood on my 71. The hood came from Eckler's. Perhaps Eckler's makes a hood with a higher power bulge for 80-82.

He has excellent ebay feedback, you just have to be willing to wait 30 days for it but be billed right away.

Doesn't help you guys in California any, but ACI will be at the big "Corvettes America" show at the GM Tech Center in Warren, Michigan this Saturday; they always have a HUGE display.

Check their site home page. ACI

Thanks for the link. I looked at the prices and saw the l-88 hood I want is 765.00 minus shipping. I looked at the blue corvettes picture in this thread (thank you for posting it) and noticed this samlisawells hood and aci share about the same gaps between fender and hood which seems to be a issue no matter who you buy a after market hood from.

I just received a a total quote from this samlisawells seller and it will be 450.00 for the hood and 175.00 for shipping and crating.

I did notice their hood seems to be open in the rear so I will talk to them about sealing that up and will let you all know how they are to deal with and how well it fits the car.

Since the back of this hood has a opening. I was wondering if it would be possible to use a modified section of a 84 crossfire hood and bond it to the bottom of this L-88 hood and make it so my 84 CFI air cleaner will seal up and draw its air from the windshield base.

Does anyone have a few pictures of how the ducting under a 84 vettes hood looks.

Well, I sent this samlisawells payment for my hood so we will see how good the quality of there hood is. I did however get in touch with a guy who left feedback for them and he sent me a photobucket link with 18 pictures of the hood he got from them. The gaps on his don't look any more significant then other aftemarket hoods I have seen.

I will post pictures of there hood in this thread when I receive it though. But hey for 450.00 bucks I can't complain and the car is going to be a daily driver not show.

Well, this Lisa seems nice to deal with and the other guy had no complaints whatsoever. But unfortunately I can't post his photobucket link without his consent. But from what I saw the hood fits his car pretty nice, maybe he is a member here and will chime in.

I've seen pictures of his car on a site somewhere just can't remember where. Maybe he is on corvetteforum.com not sure. But at any rate his car is a 80-82 and is stripped for the most part to bare glass if this car rings a bell.
