L-88 long style hood sources

Well, this Lisa seems nice to deal with and the other guy had no complaints whatsoever. But unfortunately I can't post his photobucket link without his consent. But from what I saw the hood fits his car pretty nice, maybe he is a member here and will chime in.

I've seen pictures of his car on a site somewhere just can't remember where. Maybe he is on corvetteforum.com not sure. But at any rate his car is a 80-82 and is stripped for the most part to bare glass if this car rings a bell.

Oh and by the way I am not affiliated nor advertising for this ebay member just thought I'de mention them as a cheaper alternative to other sources of this type of hood. But as mentioned they do have a 30 day maximum waiting period on delivery so I will also tell you all the pro's and cons on this deal. I was late on my payment by a week which just told her was very busy at work and such and she was pleasant about it and replied she received my payment and would keep me updated on the hood.

By the way here is the car its going on.

Has anyone used the 80-82 style high rise hood ????
Mine is an ACI hood that was purchased via one of the big vette parts sellers. This was before I knew that ACI was 2 hours from me. ;shrug
Anyways, never had any problem with the hood. (I also have their fiberglass front bumper on my car now.)
I don't know if Sam and Lisa manufacture their own hoods, but if they don't, they likely are reselling ACI's products.

BTW...if they have pics in a photobucket account, they are likely in a public account and can be reposted/hotlinked without permission nor recourse. Just a friendly FYI. :cool

I am fairly certain they make the hoods themselves. because if they were 2nd hand dealing they would be in the red badly. I paid 450.00 + 175.00 handling for mine. But they seem like very nice people to deal with and whats a 30 day wait on the hood? I've waited longer then that for a set of valve covers LOL ....

When I get the hood I will post pictures of it on my car with exact measurments of gaps and everything and show pictures of every last detail on the hood.

For what it's worth, I've heard it very much helps to have at least 2, preferably 3 people when working with removal/replacement of the hood.

Also, while you are at it, inspect the condition of the hood release cable and sheathing. Those do go bad on our cars. If it happens to break/fail while the hood is closed, "it's curtains for certain!", as there's no easy way to get the hood latches released once the hood is closed and the cable unusable.

the battery under the hood is proof of this cars moron previous owners so I will be checking everything out real good on it. As for lifting the hood thought I'de try using my top lifting thing to assist in cuss word reduction and excessive beer drinking during that LOL ...

'Dre makes a great point- get help when removing the hood. I've removed a C3 hood by myself- I DON'T recommend it. It's heavy and you run the risk of gouging up the hood and the edges around it.

I sent a moderator the link to that guys pictures of the hood he bought. If the moderator says its a public photobucket album I will post the link. or he can do it himself.

Well, I was able to view all the pics without logging in to nor having a photobucket account. And I was able to find his pic set via a yahoo search, so "yes" they are technically public photos. (It also came up with his eBay stuff and his YouTube videos.)

Here's the URL to his main Photobucket repository...

Wow .. I thought the car was a 80-82 but it looks like he grafted a 80-82 front bumper on it is all.

well, they weren't kidding about the 30 day waiting period. They received payment on the 16th of last month and I haven't heard from them since. But I will keep you all updated. Just have to play the waiting game I guess, I just didnt think it would really take the full 30 days to receive it LOL.

Well, I am at 3 days shy of the 1 month maximum period. I haven't heard from them since they received my payment, so with 3 days left till the 30 day maximum is reach I highly doubt I will receive this hood ontime and no idea when it will arrive.

I am going to go ahead on saturday if they don't respond and order a vanacors hood and just request reimbursement from this samlisawells. I am curious though why with the other good feedback that my hood is going to be late. I however should have probably sent them weekly emails asking about progress but I honestly don't like bugging people.

So in short, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone as of right now!

Have you touched based with them? I would be surprised if you could cancel it this late into the purchase I am sure its started. I would give them a call and check on the progress.

I bought one from Lisa for my 1973 Vette, and it is beautiful. I have not put it on the car yet. It should be going into the paint shop in a week or so.

I am very pleased with the hood. and they did a great job of shipping it.

I think they do their own molds, because I was going to send them a front spoiler to copy and reproduce.

how long did it take to get yours? .... I overnighted my payment to them, they sent me a email through ebay saying they received the payment and I haven't heard from them since.

Well, I sent them emails through ebay as well as to the email address she has listed in the ebay ad for the hood and got no response ... they don't answer the phone number they have listed either. I am going to order a Vanacors or ACI hood next week for my car. Yes this is a costly setback but not going to let it hinder my project, just going to be smarter and order from reputable businesses now is all .... Should have done this in the beginning.

While "curby" might have had a good transaction with them I sure didn't .... Oh well, live and learn right! I paid with a money order so doubt I will ever see that money again.

That is an expensive lesson to learn!

You may end up with two hoods if they ever ship the one they owe you.

I won't buy anything off ebay with money orders. I use either PayPal or a credit card. That way, I can appeal transactions that go bad with either.

If they send it they send it, then I just re-sell it is all .... Just not going to sit around waiting for them is all.
