springs and rockers
Get the springs and rockers from the same company, first of all.
I went with the Crane Roller Rockers (1.6).
Crane will match up the rockers with your springs.
Of course Comp Cams would do the same, but I really do think that while Cranes are a bit more expensive, you'll get...
performance improvement on an '87
I'd vote for headers, cats removal, roller rockers and if you can afford it,
changing the rear to a 3:73 or somewhat lower.
Made a great improvement on mine............
response to RJSROCKET
MAD Corvette Claims "smoother performance, 20% more air, etc" It's all BS.
The stock one works the same but without the SES light.
Resolution of the Code 33 problem
Well, sure enough the culprit was the Mid-America MAF Micro-tech unit.
I put a stock unit on it and voila, no code 33.
The irony of this is that when the first Micro-tech unit failed, I got a replacement from Mid-America, so this is the second failed unit.
In...
anyone use the Mid-America Micro-Tech Mass Air Flow Sensor-Code 33
Ive done a lot of mods on my '87 and now can't get rid of my Code 33 again.
I put in a second Micro-Tech unit after the sensors and IAC were changed.
Still points to the MAF.
I wonder if these units are any good?
vats bypass
I put the Vats bypass unit in my '87.
Bought from Mid-America.
I got the one with the 3 settings (toggle-switch), but leave it deactivated.
It's SOOOOO much better.
None of those gotcha problems that catch you just when you need to go.
Security Bypass
I disabled my '87 with the VAT Bypass sold by Mid America.
It's cheap and easy to install.
I assume they will also handle the '84, but check with them.
its working fine now
The leads on the CC were bent and somehow I didn't notice it.
Jut straightened out and it was fine.
I think it happened when the battery was changed.
mufflers
I have Hedman Headers, eliminated the CATs, and run 2 stainless steel pipes right back to the rear stainless steel Borlas.
It sounds fabulous.
I'm also getting a code 33 on my 87.
About 6 months ago, I replaced the MAFS with the Mid-America micro-tech unit
along with the sensor. Never had a problem until now.
After several resets, its still happening.
My mechanic thiks the unit might be bad and suggested returning it, which I am in...
