I had a problem with the right door and it was finally traced to a break in one of the wires running from the body to the door. there was a very fine brown wire that looked ok but had a slight break and opening and closing the door could make/break contact. went through 5 body control module...
only if you intend to actually drive the car and not risk your life and others around you. Goodyear tires, especially of that vintage tended to harden within a couple of years. Hard tires = bad grip. After about 8 years from date of manufacture tires tend to deteriorate just from exposure. I...
After 2 years the GY tires of that vintage have hardened which is not only annoying for noise reasons, they lose grip as well. As someone pointed out the tires could date a couple of years prior to the age of the car making them well beyond useful life. In Europe tires that are over 8 years...
locking problem
it sounds more like a wiring problem than the Body Control Module. Generally if the BCM isn't working then the door won't lock, unlock and the window won't work. check wiring that passes from interior into the door. They are fine wires and they can break inside the insulation.
I run Michelin Pilot Sports on both my C5 and C6 Z06. The former are run flats and the latter are non-zp tires (they didn't have run flats available back when I got them). I have about 40k on the Z including track time.
Bought an 02 and had R8C 11/5/01. ran the car heavily on the track in all these years, taught 3 women how to drive stick and let them take it on the track, have double & triple stinted it at the track sharing it with others. Now has 101900 miles and it's on the second rotors (changed at 65k...
battery
One thing that impacts battery life is cranking from a battery that is less than full charge. Even cars driven daily are not kept at full charge, especially for short trips in very cold or very hot temps when heater/air conditioner is in use. Keep a car on a trickle charger if not...
jacking
If you look under C5/C6 you will see there is a lightweight cross brace under the floor panels, aft of a line formed by your sideview mirrors. Where that crossbrace connects to the frame you can place a jack (on the frame not the crossbrace) and jack one side of the car. place your...
jacking c4-c6
Get the Harbor Freight jack, think I just saw a flyer that its on sale for $59. After 5-7 years just toss it although I've had mine 9 years and still going strong.
For jacking pucks just get some hockey pucks at local sporting goods store, you don't really need the eyebolt...
C5 Corvette sensors get programmed with a magnet, I leave it on the lift post to keep it handy, just an ordinary big magnet. The C6 needs a special tool and requires the fob to go to set mode. A quick spin is not enough for the receiver to know that the sensors have changed and it will not...
there is a way to stop that at high speeds, get a set of hatch clips that allow you to have the hatch open about 2" That will permit a smooth airflow out of the car at speed and avoid that sound. The same thing can happen with sun roof in a sedan which can be cured by dropping the rear window...
