Alloydude, Thanks for the advice:D Was it the splines that go into the differential or the wheel bearings(or both) that needed help? Did it take long to take all that stuff off and get it together? Thanks for all the advice, Terry

Is this problem common only on L-98 vettes or could this be a problem on my 96?

I have them same click, click from the rear...thought it was the ujoints also but have had a couple of technicians tell me they're fine(90k miles)? I'm now surprised to hear that changing the ujoints didn't fix that sound for you!? The "whew, whew"sound I heard might be the ABS self check...

The Corvette Gadgetman device is the one I have and recommend. It allows more visibility out the back than the 1-piece designs and keeps the hatch nice and tight.

Could be shock absorbers...how many miles are on your car and when's the last time you did an abrubt emergency manuever like that? It could be that the hard driving brought the problem to light. I replaced my shocks at 70000 and this cured all "floatiness" I've experienced prior to replacement...
