Bob,The thread is 12 years old and the last time it was updated was 8 years ago. Like the previous posts said, Jeff is no longer doing these and hasn't for a number of years...
It can be done in a day, it'll be a long day but it can be done.
These items should be replaced with new:
clutch hydraulics
flywheel and pressure plate bolts
bearings
Suggested:
speed bleeder for the clutch
headers (if not already done)
shifter (since it has to be taken off anyway)
tunnel...
If I could ever afford and justify it, I would have Carravagio seats in there, the quality and look of those seats are incredible.
I thought about going with Corbeau seats, they're relatively inexpensive but after thinking about it, I was more concerned about looks because I don't track the car...
Did a couple of more updates:
Got the shifter boot in red/black. It was pretty easy to do, the original boot is held in place by staples, they were pretty easy to remove. I did not staple the new boot in, I used double sided tape instead. The install is pretty straightfoward...
Well, I just got bored of the plain black interior:
You guys know what the plain black interior looks like.
I had a couple of things in mind and this is the first phase:
Did some neoprene seat covers and a center console lid cover from Corvette Mods. Seat covers were really easy to do...
With that catback, it's more of a sound change, you aren't really going to gain much, if any, power from an aftermarket exhaust from a Ti Z06 exhaust because the factory system flows pretty well.
Very good bang for the buck are long tube headers, gets you an audible difference as well as...
That is way too much, IMO. With mods, you get pennies back on the dollar and it seems like this dealership doesn't realize that.
I'd be wary of the history. However, with the internet, it shouldn't be too hard to track down the previous owner or someone who knows something about this car...
Congratulations, Paul.
I'm looking to picking up a C6 myself when I get back from the 'Stan later this year. But I'm going with a Z06 or nothing! :L
I'm going to keep my C5 Z06. No sense in getting rid of her now, I'd lose too much money if I did.
I, too, was amazed at the difference...
I usually fill up on post. If I was too lazy, I just put whatever in there. I run fuel injector cleaner every 4 months or so. I do put a lot of miles on my car, though. I have it tuned for 91 as we could not get 93 in Oklahoma. I haven't had an problems with the fuel system.
I think this thread is even more relevant now because Chris somewhat forsaw what the future would bring. Kinda spooky!:L
Cars are quicker/faster these days, no one can dispute that. But for someone to deny that is like denying that they're getting old and can still run with the young kids...
Even the current Corvette's will be surpassed in performance one day by many vehicles. It's bound to happen. What irritates me is the arrogance of some people after they get whooped. You know, the typical comments such as: "it's only a Rustang," "I get more attention from girls in a Corvette...
Okay, I gotta bring this one back from the dead.:L
I think that every few years, this thread becomes more relevant because of the improvement that cars have made.
More specifically, I'm talking about the new 5.0 Mustang that has come out. In factory form, the 5.0 will dust a factory 5.0...
Mac,
I feel the same way. It used to be that 4 bangers were real dogs, that merging lane on the expressway had better been a decline. :L
But now the 4 bangers are putting out the power that 6's had. And the 6's are putting out 300+ in a lot of vehicles.
What even more incredible is that...
