Has anyone installed a Mallory Unilite tach drive distributor on a 74 vette?If so what did you think of it and how was the install?

ok... well i guess i will answer my own post. The carb fit nicely, and i am able to use the stock air filter with lots of hood clearance left.

is anyone using a holley 80555? I've read a few posts on other sights that this is a direct replacement for the stock carb on a 74 with a 350.

I guess they want this to check and see that any past recalls have been taken care of. All I was told is that a recall clearance checks by VIN # . Other than that, I have NO idea either :duh

I am currently in the process of importing my car to Canada. They are asking me for a recall clearance letter. Anybody have ANY idea who I can contact to get a clearance on a car thats 29 years old?? Thanks

Hey sscam99,the float setting is the first thing you have to set,if they are set off it throws everything off,after you get it initially dialed in then the fun really starts. Tuning the carb to the engine can take days and can pay off in a big big way.take care and I`ll say sorry to vigman aswell

Oh ya I forgot a very important part,make sure your float levels are set right,set them so the fuel is just under the sight hole,if it is set to high it will flood when you shut the car off,and if it is too low it will stumble on turns,holleys are famous for leaking fuel past the needles and...

Again vigman,you cant read it says in all the manuals to hook up the choke to a keyed 12 volt source it does not say to take power from the coil uh uh and it draws 2.3 amps and yes I am a grease monkey and carb and FMU specialist nuff braging hook up your stereo from the coil while your at it...

There is not GOBS of current there , If that is what you do,you dont know what your talking about, never take power from the coil period,the choke is a big resistor,the bi-metalic spring gets really hot and that is why there is a vacum line in it to cool it down

First of all never take power from the coil,you are reducing the available voltage on the primary side of the coil,find yourself a 12 volt power source that is keyed with the ignition on,you can find this with a test light on the fuse box and then run a wire to the choke.set the choke to be...

ya the same thing happened to me. after alot of cussing.... discovered that allusive cable was jammed. after disconnecting the cable all was good :)

sending unit there are currently a number of NOS sending units on ebay. They seem to be going for about 75.00. Depending on the year of your car maybe you can find one there. :)

It`s not much of a anti-theft when it jams up and locks your keys in the ignition,had to disconnect it from the the tranny shifter and pull the lever up just to get my keys out of the ignition,never seen another car with this system:booty

Thanks we also took the console apart to find out there was NO indicator. Here is one more dumb thing we have found. There is a cable going from the shifter to the steering coloum. If this binds up it locks the keys in the ignition. I ask why all the effort was put into this... and NO shift...

is there supposed to be 2 bleeder screws on the front callipers. This car has duel bleeders on the rear.. but only 1 on the front
