    Tired of the tripower

I converted to a single four barrel and will be unloading my original 1969 tripower carbs and intake. I'm interested in how much they are worth. The center carb was rebuilt about 5 years ago...all three could probably use a rebuild. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks BTW...the new intake and...

    Wrong Intake

They are aluminum heads with the square ports. Before I took the thing apart, the guys at summit told me it'd be oval. I'll give them a call today to see about correcting the issue.

    Wrong Intake

It's been a while since I've surfed the webpages of the Corvette Action Center. I see alot of familar names. I'm glad to see that alot of you are better at sticking around than I am. Anyhow, for the longest time, I've had problems with my tri-power setup. Vacuum leaks, plugs constantly...

    Having My 427 Rebuilt

Thanks for the replies. I am having to whole engine done bearing, rings, pistons, crank...all of it. I'll ask for it to be balanced and blue printed as well. Will changing the crank to a 454 crank decrease the value of a '69 427? SRTHOM13: That's a good point you brought up. I am having...

    Having My 427 Rebuilt

I'm going on deployment here soon and wanted to treat myself to a little something when I return...so I decided to have the engine in my car rebuilt. It has been getting progressively worse burning oil/smoking and it's started a knock too! I'm looking for suggestions as far as internal...

    San Diego Rebuild Location

YES....the weather is GREAT!!! Year round driving...unlike the east coast, which I've had the pleasure of living on for the last 5 years as well as the pleasure of leaving. No offense for those of you over there but I'm much better suited for this kind of weather. Anthony

    San Diego Rebuild Location

Good to see a name from the past...I actually went from Annapolis, to Charleston, to Ballston Spa, to Groten, to San Diego...it's been a busy year or two. I'm about to go on deployment here for 6 months or so and would like to have the vette ready to go when I return. I would like to call up...

    San Diego Rebuild Location

Hey there everyone...old and new. I'm was once a daily forum follower but the job has taken over my life and I never really have the oppurtunity to look around like I used to. The real reason I'm writing is to find out if anyone is aware of a restorer/shop that is recommended for rebuilding...

    Oil Pressure is Fine....Whew!!!

Robin, No, I bypassed the original line...I should try that though...might tell me if the gauge is the problem. Thanks. Funny thing happened when I put it back together. The original setup worked just fine for a day and then went back to the way it was. hmmmm? wierd. Anthony

    Oil Pressure is Fine....Whew!!!

Little Background: My engine hydraulic locked a few weeks back and after getting all that stuff fixed and back together I cranked her up and no oil Pressure! I went out and bought a mechanical oil pressure gauge and hooked it up and got a healthy reading of about 40 psi at idle. My gauge has...

    tapping noise

I wish I hadn't already gotten rid of the oil filter or I could check that out. I looks like I'll be getting a oil pressure gauge and checking out the pressure situation. I don't have enough experience to trust myself to go into the oil pan and start looking for bad rod bearings. I have a...

    tapping noise

Valves were set this past spring when I had the valve stem seals replaced so I'm hoping they're ok. They could probably use a once over anyway. On the carb gas leak, I'm sure it's the center carb that is leaking. I should contact Recarbo and see what they're policy is on that. Probaby 6...

    tapping noise

I did change the oil. I didn't notice the level any higher but I figured it couldn't hurt to change it. One issue I am having with my oil is the pressure. I looked around at other posts and saw that normal pressure at idle is between 25 and 40 psi. I used to get 40 while driving at 3500...

    tapping noise

update I tightened #7 rocker arms 1/8th of a turn and the noise has stopped. Now here are a couple follow up questions: I am having some backfire now during deacceleration if I leave the transmission in gear. This may be because of fumbling around with the carburators or can that happen from...

    tapping noise

Wow it's been a while since I've posted on here, but I am in need and I know I can always depend on the good people here at CACC. Here's the story... I had leaky carbs and every now and then I'd find gasoline pooled on my intake manifold. Apparently it got really bad and began leaking into my...

    Small Block vs. Big Block

This may lead to a future project but for now... For now it's just a presentation in my Engine's course. I may use this info later to decide when I do build my own beast but until then I'll have to dream.

    Small Block vs. Big Block

there's an instance of my lack of knowledge Basically I'm trying to compare the differences (major and minor) b/w a big block and small block. If there aren't many, what are advantages. I'm looking for sources of information. Surprisingly, I'm having a tough time locating info on GM big...

    Small Block vs. Big Block

I'm doing research on the major differences and developments b/w the small block and big block GM engines. The 396 and 402 are the engines I would like to compare but any history would be great. Can anyone point me to some articles concerning this? Thanks for the help.

    high performance alternator belt?

I'm lucky with the water pump situation. The belt that has broken on me only drives the alternator and power steering. I did take a closer look at the pulleys yesterday. They are all smooth around the circumference but the power steering pulley looks a little out of line. Looks like it's...
