The hood on your 67 is an L88 style. That hood was either aftermarket or someone molded the L88 onto the 67 hood. The L88 hood was only available from the factory on the 68 (80 produced) and 69 (116 produced) L88's. There were plenty of aftermarket hoods available. I had one on my 69 L46...
If you haven't figures it out yet, the VIN on a 69 is on the Left A Pillar. You can see it through the windshield. If it isn't there then all you have is a pile of parts.
Once you have the steering wheel locking ring removed you need to remove the signal indicator handle and then the signal switch. Insert the key in the lock and turn it to the On position. Looking at the lock cylinder from inside the column, there is a rectangular indent that you need to break...
You can use a 5 blade fan with the fan clutch. It will help pull more air through the radiator. You could also install an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator to increase air flow. That would really help when you are sitting in traffic.
Unless it sits all the way at the bottom of the engine bay or you decide to foolishly drive through deep water you should be fine. Personally I would replace it with a Blackwing style system.
I had the GY's on my 13 GS Convertible replaced last week with Bridgestone Potenza RFT's. $1,736.00 mounted, balanced and sales tax. The difference in the ride and noise is like night and day.
It can not help you with your VIN for the 68 but it is true that you get a one year free membership to the museum when you are the original purchaser of a new Corvette.
If the price is right, buy the car. You should get around 15,000 miles from the GY's. My 13 GS has 15,000 miles on it and I still have sufficient tread for another 2,000 miles. Many owners replace the GY's earlier because they tend to be noisy. I have already purchased the replacement...
In 2013 we toured Ken's collection as one of the opening events for the Hot Rod Power Tour. He has some awesome rides. Ken is a great guy. I highly recommend attending his event.
I agree. Since you are not doing an NCRS restoration, remove the wiper door and the cowl grille and replace your hood with a Long Style L88 hood. There are several vendors that carry them. Problem solved.
As Peter said place the jack under the front edge of the cross member. I have been doing that for more than 40 years and have never dented one. Sorry I was not that explicit with my first response.
If you just want to raise the front end you can use the crossmember. Just make sure the jack is centered and always use jack stands. I have used the center of the frame rails under the door to lift both wheels on the same side and if you need to raise the rear end you can place the jack under...
