    Curious about performance upgrades

Intake porting and headers are the two best bang for the buck mods you can do at this point. Here are a few links to check out. http://www.zr1netregistry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1128 http://www.zr1netregistry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1224...

small run in with a Z06 sunday (long, kinda)

6 months? Try 2 years! I agree, this issue has been beaten to death.

    ZR-1 Top Speed

Thought Curtis had headers as well. Also remember something about a good tailwind or being on a downhill stretch, could be wrong, it's been a while since I read his post on ORR. Lots of factors involved with topping out. I'd say Curtis Wards experience was an example of everything coming...

    ZR-1 Top Speed

I seem to recall a top speed tuner shootout where the late John L. managed close to 220mph in a 415(approx 650hp) ZR-1. Based on this and the capabilities of a stocker I'd guess it would take around 550hp to hit the 200 mark.

    4 Front vents?

Thanks for the help guys. Looks like the biggest challenge would be creating a sealed air box that would be low enough to clear the hood when open. My plan is to start with a redesigned air horn and a whole new duct system using two large pipes and a pair of conical filters which will feed from...

    4 Front vents?

I've been playing around with some ideas for a custom cold air box for my ZR-1. I have always liked the look of the 4 front nose panel vents on the Aerobody cars. Are these funtional? What do they feed air to? Intercoolers? If they are functional how can they be ducted and still allow for the...

    Modification Question

Does it have a Flowmaster cat back or just the mufflers? If it already has a Flowmaster cat back you're not going to see much if any horsepower gain by switching to another cat back system. You also won't get much out of a chip at this point (no matter who burned it). You really have to do some...

    Life above 110 mph

Hmmm, I think you mean 120mph in 4th gear. I've got 4.09's and have seen the 120's in forth. I've also seen 150mph in fifth and was not at redline.

    ZR-1 weight

I have weighed both my Z's on a truck weigh station scale. My red 91 with the spare tire removed weighed 3400lbs. My black 91 LPE 368 weighed in at 3350lbs. The 368 car has headers, no cats, lightweight flywheel, and no spare tire. Road and Track magazines Corvette Special addition (1991) lists...

    Good Deal?

That deal sounds too good to be true! Why would someone sell a car for way less than it's worth? Unless you know the answer to this question I would proceed with extreme caution. Check the car out thoroughly before buying. If everything is on the up and up then I'd say your getting one hell of...

    91 ZR-1 Dyno Results

Ports should be about 1.300 in. - 1.310 in. at the plenum / injector housing gasket surface. The ports should be very rough inside - if they are smooth then they have been worked over. You may also see some very basic port matching between the parts, this was done at the factory.

    Light Weight Batteries

I am very interested in this also. I was thinking these little batteries could be relocated to the storage area behind the seats pretty easily. Doing so would greatly decrease the temperature range the battery is exposed to and move the cars weight bias towards the rear as well.
