Question: 1969 2 top roadster

Scuba Steve damn you!

I got the feeling when I was there that Mom would sell, but it was pretty obvious that dad didn't have any intention. No I didn't look at the frame. But remember, these are really good friends of my daughter and I could still have the opportunity to have a chance at the car down the road. When dad figures out that he's not going to have time to fix it.

Look at what $7,500 can buy -- this looks like a friggin' nightmare to me.

I hope what you looked at last night was better than this POS.

Yea, it looked better than that, hard to believe that is worth $7500!

That car isn't worth $750. Nice wheels though.

Looks like it's got a '73 hood on it.

Probably part of this mod:

Another specialty-bodied conversion shop addition was the added Lucas headlight relays and switches on the inside of the car, which were installed as part of a mod that took away the unneeded factory vacuum system that opened and closed the headlight panels.

Since the vacuum system also controlled the wiper door.

But I agree, tis car is in very rough shape.

Well, it was rough! It did have a 427 NOM (originally a 350) 4 speed (they said it had an M22 in it, questionable). ZL1 hood (said he had an original BB hood in the shed with the hardtop), the 427 (claimed it to be an L88 block, again I question that) Edelbrock manifold/Holley carb, no vacuum supply so the headlights and wiper door would work. Hooker headers/sidepipes (chrome but poor shape). The interior was rough, several cracks in the body (in the hood where someone had dropped it shut and the air cleaner wasn't down right, the passenger side rear quarter, about a foot long crack appeared to be along a bonding strip and the rear end where someone had back it into something). I didn't even look at the frame. The mom I think would like to sell it, but her Hubby, I could tell wasn't going to at all (even though it is not his). I am glad that I didn't get my hopes up, it was quite a disappointment. Not nearly as good of shape as indicated. As it sat I would not have given them $8K. Oh well it just wasn't meant to be.

Thanks to all who posted with advice.

I'd have to be inclined to think he MIGHT be interested in selling it...He did come out to talk about the car, what spare parts he had in the shed, etc.

If there was no chance, you probably wouldn't have got a chance to look at it with him; wether he actually has some say in it or not.

If that frame is good, it is certainly worth 8K with a hardtop and a 427 in it, stock or not. Wish I knew of one like that nearby! I'd be all over it if there was even a hint it could be had.

I'll bide my time, I'm in no real hurry. I think it will be there if/when I get ready to do something.

You can't polish a turd.

When the time is right, you'll find whatever car you're looking for. We all know there's plenty of 'em out there.

As for "Dad", unless he's a mechanic, he's in love with the idea of having a resto-project without likely having any clue to the actual level of involvement and money required for such a project. In his head he sees a mint condition body-off restored Shark. (Un)fortunately, his wife sees it for what it really is.

I think you're right Andre. It might happen yet, I got the seed planted, it's now a waiting game.

Don't let it get sold out from under you. Even thought it is not a perfect original, it sounds like it is worth the money, if you can handle a project.

It definitely will not drop in value.
