81 computer/ scantool

A friend of mine let me borrow his Actron Scantool code reader.
My question is, if anyone knows. Will this work on a 81?
And if you can connect to the computer, where the heck is the plugin located.
It's not in the traditional spot, under the dash/driver side like most newer cars are.

Nothing is wrong with the car, just curious thats all.

I will say, pretty handy tool to have, I may just invest in one for my garage.

Not sure if the scanner you borrowed will read or not

As for the plug, it is under the ashtray, pull out the ashtray and you'll see the plug

plug fit, but cartridge you put into the scantool is for 84-96 GM's,


oh well, was worth a try. least I know where the plug is at now.

I have the Actron - But it goes back to 1981 and will read the OBD-I codes as well as OBD-II - I haven't given it a try on my 81 yet. You got me curious I guess I will have to give this a try.
