changed the gas in the a/c to 134a.replaced the dryer, orafice, all O rings,dis-assembled the compressor and replaced the seal and O rings.put in 4oz oil, vacuumed down and put in 24oz 134a.worked great for 2 days. now the little green lites flash on the control panel and no cool air.re-set the system and checked for codes. no fix.put the gauges back on and i sill have the charge. whats up? wrong amounts? hi or low pres switch bad? sometimes the a/c clutch engages for 3 sec and cuts out for 15 sec, then it will do this a few times, and then no more.help if you can. i do my own work when i know what im doing, and im stumped.

Did you check the charge while the car was running at 1500 rpm's? It sure sounds like you've got a low charge condition to me.

jumping out the low freon switch, will tell if low on juice. If unit blows cold bad low pressuer switch .Hope you get more a/c help than I did ,got to read up on factory manuel and find my troubles

I have had a similar problem. For a while my clutch would cycle off and on quickly, and now, it does not cycle at all. I have three sensors in the various lines (two in the low pressure and one in the high pressure side). My GM wiring diagram (from the 1990 GM manual) shows two of the three sensors (shows a "Pressure Cycling" and "A/C High Pressure Cut-out Switch"), but doesn't detail the other at all. I have checked all three sensors with the engine off, and all three are closed (conduct across the two terminals). I am wondering if in my case I have an "A/C Clutch Relay" problem, but am not sure where the relay would be located on my 1990 coupe. If I run power to the dark blue wire on the A/C clutch, it engages and I get refridgerated air from the system. It was converted to a R-134 fill, and has worked great since, until recently. Any ideas? Tim

First--compressor probs. Fixed. Then, as a result of idiot mechanics at bodyshop who put my baby back together after a side swipe accident 2 years ago, new compressor ends up fried (don't ask me how they did that). New compressor-again (and NOT from body shop although they offered), but because of same said idiots, bolts screwed too deeply through air box cover gouge condensor lines. Great. Result. New condensor from Mid-America. Result, they send some after market thing but have it installed anyway. I live in the south and the heat is killer. Cool. I have A/C for about 2 weeks until today. Blows cool (not cold) for about 3 miles when I notice I'm sweating in the car and reach to up the temp, when I see a green light flashing over the control button.

It was 94 today. No A/C and I swear all I needed was budda and sour cream, cause my arse baked like a tater in the Vette. My o-manual says those blinkies indicate some type of electrical problem. I'm getting no codes, everything is switching on, coolant level is on the money, just no cold air. Aggravating.
Somebody gimme some relief.

I had to change the compressor on my 88 last year. I think they also changed the low or high pressure switch , or maybe both due to the 134 refrigerant. Maybe someone may know.
